The Advent is the pseudonym of Cisco Ferreira (* 1970 in Madeira ), a Portuguese musician , live act and DJ on the electronic music scene. Ferreira founded the project in 1993 with British producer Colin McBean. The Advent is particularly known for its releases on the German label Tresor Records and its own label Combination Research .

history

Cisco Ferreira was born in Madeira to Portuguese parents . His family moved to London in 1975 . From 1986 he studied sound engineering at Paddington College in London. He then worked as an assistant sound engineer at ZOLOU and later at WALL Studios, where he was mainly involved in the production of rock records.

From 1987 he became increasingly interested in acid house . During the Second Summer of Love he worked as an engineer for the house label Jack Trax and worked on productions for Fingers Inc , Adonis , Marshall Jefferson and Derrick May .

In 1988 he recorded some tracks with CJ Bolland under the pseudonym Space Opera , which were released by the Belgian label R&S Records . A year later he made a record under his own name for the first time. Why (Don't You Answer?) Was released on the Fragile label . In the same year he met his future production partner Colin McBean at the Bang the Party event , who at that time formed the KCC DJ team with Keith Franklin. Shortly thereafter, they formed a DJ team together that lasted until 1993. They started producing together in 1990 when they were working on the album by the American artist Fade to Black ( Jay Denham ). In 1993 they founded the project The Advent, under which they released their first records a year later. For the next two years they released their productions exclusively on this label.

In 1995 their first studio album Elements Of Life was released on the same label. Her second album New Beginnings followed a year later. After a dispute between producers and label owners, they left Internal and founded their own label Combination Research , on which their third album was released in 2000. They also released on Tresor Records and other labels.

In 1999 McBean left the project because, according to his own statements, he could no longer deal with the stress of the tour. Since then, MC Bean has performed as a solo artist and as a DJ. From then on, Cisco Ferreira produced solely under the pseudonym The Advent and released several LPs on Tresor Records and in 2002 the double CD Sketched for Life .

Since then, Ferreira has also been producing dance-floor-oriented music under the name G. Flame. After that he also released dance floor music with his former partner under the name G. Flame & Mr. G, which no longer had much in common with the releases as The Advent. Since the split, Cisco Ferreira continues to bring out new publications under the old name.

Ferreira appeared as a live act at international events such as Mayday , the Love Parade , I Love Techno , Sun Moon and Stars , Melt , Timewarp , Nature One and Sensation White .
