history

The Butan Club was founded in December 1999 by Tobias Wicht in the former Tielmann meat factory next to the Heckinghauser gas boiler not far from the Wuppertal-Oberbarmen train station with an investment volume of 200,000 DM . This sees itself as a combined club and cultural operation with the aim of protecting the premises and preserving them for the local club scene. At the opening ceremony on March 1st, not only local artists but also well-known greats such as Extrawelt , Riley Reinhold and Criss Source performed . In addition to parties, there will also be space for readings, poetry slams , concerts, jazz evenings and theater in the future.
