Fritz Kalkbrenner
Fritz Kalkbrenner (born May 28, 1981 in East Berlin ) is a German music producer and singer . He is the younger brother of the musician and music producer Paul Kalkbrenner , with whom he co-produced the hit Sky and Sand . In his solo projects he combines dance with melodic elements, for example guitar samples, and his distinctive voice and texts he has written himself .
Life
Kalkbrenner was born in 1981 in East Berlin, the son of journalists Jörn and Carla Kalkbrenner . His grandfather was the painter and communist Fritz Eisel .
Since 2002 he has been working as a culture and music journalist for various television channels, including MDR , MTV and Deutsche Welle .
In 2003 he was guest vocals on the first album Brave by Sascha Funke to hear, with whom he has been friends since his youth. This was followed by recordings with Zky , Alexander Kowalski and Monika Kruse . In 2008 he and his brother produced the soundtrack for the feature film Berlin Calling , in which Paul Kalkbrenner was an actor. Kalkbrenner's first album Here Today Gone Tomorrow was released on the Suol label in 2010 and received an Echo nomination.
A year and a half later, Suol Mates: Fritz Kalkbrenner was released, a decoupling of his label's mix series , i.e. without any own songs.
Kalkbrenner's breakthrough came with the second album Sick Travellin ' , which was released on October 19, 2012 , also on the Suol label. The live tour of the same name began on February 15, 2013 in the Arena Vienna . After 17 concerts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, this came to an end on May 4, 2013 in the Kesselhaus in Munich.
Kalkbrenner presented his third album Ways Over Water on October 16, 2014 in an exclusive pre-release showcase at the Prince Charles club in Berlin .
