When Ilsa Gold published Viennese musician Christopher Just (* 1968 in Vienna-Penzing ) and Peter Votava ( DJ Pure) interlocutory 1993 and 1996 numerous techno - and hardcore techno -pieces. The duo later also released under the alias Sons Of Ilsa .

Act

Both the artist and record dealer Christopher Just and party organizer Peter Votava were active in the emerging techno scene when they met in early 1993. They started to produce together and months later their first EP ("I") was released on the Viennese "Mainframe" label. It contained an early hit in the rave genre, Up . Her second EP ("II") (with the hits Silke and Elastico ), which was released shortly afterwards , also reached first place in the charts of Frontpage magazine. That gave them appearances at Mayday in 1993 and 1994 .

In 1995 they released Pulsinger's Nacht (I'm A Raver Baby), a single as a statement against the Viennese DJ Patrick Pulsinger , in which they saw a nest polluter in the rave scene. The title referred to the play Weininger's Night .

What was striking about her style was an ironic and disrespectful attitude, which was shown by the contrast between rhythmic hardness and the use of unusual samples , such as Karel Gott , Peter Cornelius or the theme melody of the film La Boum . This also determined their dealings with the press. With titles like I'm a raver baby, so why don't you kill me or with puns like eggs they see (in German the eggs that they see or pronounced ecstasy ) they showed their criticism of drug abuse and the cultural development of the Scene to which her personal dislike deepened. At first they stopped appearing in public, then parodied themselves as Sons of Ilsa and finally broke up in 1996. Together with important disc jockeys of the scene, they were represented on the remix album Hands on Yello .

After the separation, Christopher made ironic dance music under the pseudonyms Gerhard , Punk Anderson , Disco Dancer and House Motherfucker , whereas Peter published experimental, electronic sounds on Mego as Pure . In 2003 the double album “Regretten? Rien! ”Is a summary of their joint work, which also includes live recordings of improvised radio appearances that fans call legendary.
