Zombie Nation is a German techno - and electro project of the Munich live acts , DJs and music producers Florian Senfter (alias ! Splank ). At the beginning of 1999 the first 5-track EP Zombie Nation EP was released on DJ Hell's label International Deejay Gigolos . Since 2001 Splank! also under the pseudonym John Starlight Tracks on various labels.

The song Kernkraft 400 contained on the debut release is considered to be one of the most successful songs in electronic instrumental music (in this case hard trance ) in the remix by DJ Gius (a pseudonym of the Italian producer Technoboy ). After its first release in 1999, it was licensed to Polydor in Germany and reached high positions in the sales charts on various labels across Europe . Kernkraft 400 (DJ Gius Video Cut) also appears in the soundtrack of the zombie comedy Shaun of the Dead and in the HBO series The Sopranos as well as in the graffiti film Dirty Handz 3 . It is also one of the most played songs at sporting events in the United States. The NHL teams Detroit Red Wings , Boston Bruins and New Jersey Devils , for example, play it at home team goals. In addition, many college football teams have so-called “chants”, ie cheers that are sung to the melody of the song (e.g. those of the Pennsylvania State University ). Recently, Austria Wien and since 2016 the FC Hansa Rostock e. V. this song as the goal anthem. The original melody is part of the computer game music of the Commodore 64 game Lazy Jones from the 1980s.
In 2002 Splank! the label Dekathlon Records , which was transferred to the newly founded sub-label UKW Records in early 2005 . All Zombie Nation records have been released there since 2003 . In summer 2007 the song Lower State of Consciousness was published under the project name ZZT after a collaboration with the Canadian artist Tiga .
Zombie Nation has been one of the most booked live acts of electronic music in the international club scene since 1999 . In contrast to other DJs and live acts from the electronic field, Splank! at concerts his songs are completely new every time. Improvisations with samples and sounds created especially for performances are also a well-known trademark. The core of the instrument setup is an AKAI MPC 4000, as well as various effects devices, some of which are controlled via a mixer.
