Boris Brejcha

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Boris Brejcha (born November 26, 1981 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) is a German DJ and music producer . He himself describes his style of music as "high-tech minimal ". His trademark is a Venetian mask , which he wears at concerts for part of his performance time.

Life

Brejcha's trademark is the use of a Joker mask.

As a six-year-old, Brejcha was seriously injured by burns as a spectator at the Ramstein flight conference , from which he still bears scars today. He said he was teased at school and had few friends because of the scars. As a result, he spent a lot of time alone, where he found a passion in music early on. Brejcha has been playing drums and keyboards since childhood and was a drummer in a band for six months as a student.

A short time later, a classmate brought him a CD from the Dutch hardcore event Thunderdome , which was his first experience with the hardcore genre . At the age of twelve he began to produce electronic music as a hobby, but mainly trance in the beginning .

However, his new hobby also ensured that Brejcha dropped out of school due to falling performance and instead completed an apprenticeship as a freight forwarder . He then worked part-time at Telekom Deutschland for a while , which gave him more time for his music.

In 2006 he finally started his career as a tech house producer on the label Autist Records with his two singles Monster and Yellow Kitchen . In the same year he also had his first appearance as a DJ at the Universo Paralello Festival in Brazil . A year later, after several other published tracks, he was named "Exceptional Talent 2007" by Raveline magazine , which marked his breakthrough in the electronic scene.

In 2015, after several years of successful cooperation with the Harthouse record label, Brejcha founded his own music label, which he called Fckng Serious . Besides him, the musicians Deniz Bul, Ann Clue and the duo Theydream are under contract with the label.

After Brejcha's music enjoyed great popularity, especially in South America, a performance in front of Fontainebleau Castle in France in 2017 ensured that he also achieved the same level of awareness in Europe. A recording of the event, which was published by the music platform Cercle, reached more than 26 million clicks online (as of January 2020) and is the platform's most popular video. In June 2019 another concert recording of Brejcha was published by Cercle , this time at the Grand Palais in Paris . In July 2019 Brejcha released the track Gravity ( feat.Laura Korinth) on Ultra Music .
