DJ hooligan

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

DJ Hooligan (bourgeois Frank Tomiczek , born December 30, 1968 in Bottrop ), also known under his pseudonym Da Hool , is a German DJ and techno producer .

biography

At the age of 18, in addition to his training as a technical draftsman , he began to play records in a discotheque in his home town of Bottrop. When he switched to techno, he lost his leisure job. From then on he devoted himself fully to the techno scene and did not work in the profession he had learned, but kept himself busy with other gainful activities, e.g. B. in the youth detention center Bottrop , financially above water.

As part of the growing scene, he released the single Harder and Deeper in the early 1990s , which became a club hit. He put on with BOTTROP and then in 1994 with Rave Nation , his first international chart success . With this success behind him, he was able to quit his part-time jobs and practice DJing as a profession. He performed at big raves, remixed pieces for famous artists like Tom Novy or Marusha , and produced for his own projects like La Rocca, Central Love, Hool's Experience and An Active Trip.

1995 came the single Sueño futuro (Wake Up and Dream) and then Meet Her at the Loveparade . Other remixes also made it into the charts, for example the Da Hool remix of Armand Van Heroen's The Funk Phenomena .

In 1996 he founded his own label called B-Sides and also his own production company Hool Productions.

Da Hool faced serious allegations in connection with the violent clashes by German hooligans around the 1998 World Cup in France . Bild and Hamburger Morgenpost had printed photos that showed him, among other things, when he was arrested by French police officers and accused him of being a ringleader. “I was n't involved in the Lens riot ,” he said. He was only taken away for the purpose of alcohol control. He refused to be lumped together with the uninhibited beaters. "I don't want to be labeled a right-wing radical just because I'm bald and my stage name is Da Hool or DJ Hooligan."

On February 21, 2010, he was seen in the TV show The Perfect Celebrity Dinner .
