Oliver Huntemann (born June 19, 1968 in Hanover ) is a Hamburg based DJ , producer and remixer in the field of electronic music. He has published numerous productions and remixes for greats such as Underworld , The Chemical Brothers and Depeche Mode .

biography

Having grown up in Oldenburg in northern Germany , Oliver Huntemann was interested in contemporary music at an early age. He started recording radio shows, bought his first maxi singles, and experimented with a pair of belt-driven turntables. Oliver Huntemann was initially strongly influenced by the massive wave of North American youth culture that swept across Europe at the end of the 70s: rap , graffiti & break dance and the protagonists of the scene such as B. Afrika Bambaataa , Grandmaster Flash or Whodini . Films like Beat Street or Wild Style aroused his curiosity for breakdancing and DJing. Huntemann began to put records publicly at the age of fourteen.

Between 1984 and 1990, Oliver Huntemann completed an apprenticeship as an electronics technician with the German Federal Navy. This was followed by a traineeship and employment as an editor at a city magazine in Bremen. When Acidhouse found its way into German clubs at the end of the 80s, he began to organize the first events with electronic music in his hometown of Oldenburg. On one of these club nights he met the DJ and sound engineer Gerret Frerichs . The result of early sessions in Frerichs' studio, in which the jazz musician HG Schmidt also participated, was the Humate project . The first records "Chrome" (1992) and "Love Stimulation" (1993) appeared on the Berlin label MFS .

Huntemann was responsible for numerous publications and projects in the years that followed. This includes the establishment of the label Confused Recordings (1995), the establishment of the Super 8 studio, publications under his name, as well as the implementation of the alias "H-Man" and the "Rekorder" concept series together with Stephan Bodzin . He is represented on labels like Sven Väths Cocoon or Anthony Rothers Datapunk . While his first album "Too Many Presents For One Girl" (2004) was published on Confused Recordings' own imprint, the second album "Fieber" (2006) was published in a collaboration between Confused and DJ Hells Gigolo Records .

At the beginning of 2007 a live recording of a DJ gig was released on September 29, 2006 from the D-Edge Club in São Paulo, Brazil, with the title PLAY! 01 . The continuation of PLAY! 02 was recorded on February 22nd, 2008 at the Rex Club in Paris and released a short time later. A separate single was produced for each of these mix compilations: "São Paulo ep" and "Paris ep"
