Smith & Mighty are a trip-hop band from Bristol , England . In Bristol itself, they are considered to be the undisputed fathers of the Bristol Sound , made famous by interpreters such as Massive Attack , Portishead and Tricky .
In 1988 Smith & Mighty produced the first massive attack EP Any Love . There are also close relationships with drum and bass artists from Bristol such as DJ Krust and DJ Suv. Their first band Fresh Four , a hip-hop combo, was also produced by Smith & Mighty in the late 1980s.
Smith & Mighty was founded in the mid-1980s by Rob Smith and Ray Mighty, who were previously active in Bristol's reggae scene. With the entry of Peter D Rose, the duo became a trio in the 1990s.
A drum and bass offshoot of Smith & Mighty is the combo More Rockers , whose central characters are Peter D Rose and Rob Smith.
