Bellini is a German pop group that was founded in the mid-1990s. The name of the band comes from the former captain of the Brazilian national soccer team Hilderaldo Bellini , who led his team to the world championship title for the first time in 1958.
Members
In order to be able to present the already published songs, which were produced by Gottfried Engels and Ramon Zenker , also known as The Bellini Brothers, on stage, the dancer Mustafa Makhloufi (* 1974 or 1975 in Morocco ) and the four dancers were appointed Tanja Niethen (* 1973 in Siegburg ), Dandara Santos-Silva (* 1970 or 1971 in Brazil ), Onni Khoei-Arsa (* 1974 or 1975 in Thailand ) and Dewi Sulaeman (* 1979 or 1980 in Indonesia ) were cast. Mustafa left Bellini in the summer of 1997, and in October 1998 Niethen and Santos-Silva founded the Bellissima Trio with the Englishwoman Mel Roberts. Sulaeman also split from the group after her pregnancy became public. In 2004 Tanja Niethen married the musician Joey Kelly , in 2009 Dewi Sulaeman married the tennis player Philipp Petzschner . Onni Khoei-Arsa completed training as a physiotherapist and opened a beauty salon in Cologne . Mustafa Makhloufi became German Equality Dancing Champion in 2007 with his dance partner Patrick Dräger .
In 1999 and 2000 three new dancers and singers were cast for Bellini in Cologne. First, Sabrina Schmieder (* 1980 in Salzburg ) and Fabiana became members of the formation. From 2000 to 2005 Annemarie Warnkross was part of the group. Milena later came to Bellini. Pop artist Emilia Rizzo was also a member of the group at times. In June 2014 the group consisted of the following members: Maria Einfeldt ( Stage School Hamburg , musical actress), Tracey Ellis and Myrthes Monteiro (from São Paulo, living in Berlin).
Career
Bellini's breakthrough came in 1997 with the single Samba de Janeiro , which sold over five million times worldwide. In Germany the song reached number two in the single charts and stayed in the top ten for a total of 13 weeks. Bellini received an echo for this song in the category artist or group national in the category dance / techno .
The trio could not repeat this success. Her successor single Carnaval only reached number 93 in Germany and the single Me gusta la vida , published in summer 1998, number 79. After a three-year break, the single Brazil was released in summer 2001 . She also only reached number 71 in the German single charts. In August 2007, the single Let's Go to Rio was released . The single Hot Hot Hot was announced for the summer of 2008, but it was only released later, not as a CD, but only as a download.
Samba de Janeiro or its catchy melody part was played in the stadium during the European Football Championship 2008 whenever a goal was scored. The band split in 2009. Sabrina Schmieder trained as a clerk for audiovisual media and worked as a real estate consultant in Berlin in 2013 .
A best-of album and a new recording of the hit Samba de Janeiro were planned for 2010, but they never came out. The band was set up with new members on the occasion of the soccer World Cup in Brazil in 2013 and a new edition of Samba de Janeiro was published.
In 2014 the entire line-up was changed. The newly formed group premiered in April 2014 with the cover Tic Tic Tac in the ZDF television garden . On May 9, 2014, the single Samba do Brasil was released , a new edition of Samba de Janeiro . The corresponding album is called Festival .
Since October 2018 Bellini has been performing again with the original band member Dandara Santos-Silva.
