W&W is a Dutch EDM duo, consisting of Willem van Hanegem and Ward van der Harst . They celebrated their first major successes in the field of trance music with their debut single Mustang . After ending their trance career in 2012 by founding their record label “ Mainstage Music ”, they achieved their commercial breakthrough in 2014 with Bigfoot . Especially Waves and Arcade with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike were able to follow up on the success. In 2017 they returned to their original trance style with the NWYR project . Willem is the son of the football player of the same name, Willem van Hanegem .

history

Until 2011: Foundation and beginnings in the field of trance

Both began to develop an interest in the genre at a young age. After celebrating their first successes as solo producers, the two DJs met for the first time in 2007 at the Trance Energy Festival 2007 in the Netherlands. After building a friendship, they began working on songs together. With the track Mustang , which appeared in the same year, the duo landed a surprise success. Due to Van der Harst's existing contract with "Armada Music", this brought the song out on March 17, 2008 with the B-side Eruption as a single. The track spread within a very short time. After Sander van Doorn played the song at the Trance Energy Festival in 2008, the duo made a name for themselves in the trance scene. Mustang then moved up to 63rd place in the Dutch Top 100.

A follow-up took place in May 2008 with another double single, consisting of the tracks Countach and Intercity . By the end of the year a number of other songs were released, in December 2008 three productions in the form of a triple single. In the following year there was a first collaboration. This took place with the producer Ummet Ozcan , who was also active in trance at the time , with whom further collaborations should come about in the further course of his career.

After they were able to gain a foothold in the trance scene through further trance productions in 2010, they also made their first appearances in clubs and festivals. Furthermore, they reached the top 100 of the DJ-Mag charts for the first time and climbed to number 71. In February 2011, W&W released the single Impact , which is the first single from their debut album. This came out after four other pre-releases under the title Impact on September 23, 2011. While most of the songs on the studio album represent their trance style, W&W are entering new areas of music with songs like Nowhere To Go .

Twist and Nowhere To Go were decoupled from Impact between autumn and winter 2011 . Twist made the start and is a collaboration with Mark Sixma. Nowhere To Go was released as a solo single, the vocals of which were contributed by the American singer Bree. They let themselves be influenced by quieter sounds and dubstep elements. At the same time they made it into the top half of the DJ Mag list for the first time, where they moved up to 36th place.

2012: Mainstage Music

In spring 2012, W&W contributed the official anthem of the A State of Trance (ASOT) 2012 festival with the song Invasion .

They also founded their own record label “ Mainstage Music ” in early 2012 , which is a sub-label of “Armada Music”. In addition to their own publications, the singles of numerous other artists such as Twoloud , Sick Individuals or Titonal also appear on “Mainstage Music” . A “Best of” compilation and a weekly one-hour podcast are also published annually. The label compilation releases began with the release of the album Mainstage Unmixed on October 19, 2012. This included the previously unreleased track White Label . A single was not released.

After the Dutch DJ and producer Hardwell released his single How We Do on W & W's "Mainstage Music" in mid-2012 , the duo decided to release it on their record label " Revealed Recordings ". This is the song Trigger , which was produced together with Marcel Woods and was released on July 2, 2012. In July 2012, the track Moscow followed again on her own label. In September of the same year, together with Jonas Stenberg, they released a remix for the track Silence by Delerium and Sarah McLachlan, with which they topped the Beatport charts for the first time.

In 2012 they moved up eleven places in the DJ-Mag charts and landed at number 25.

2013: From trance to big room

W&W at the TomorrowWorld Festival 2013

With the single Lift Off , released on December 3, 2012 , the duo initially caused confusion among their fans, as this did not correspond to their typical style, but much more to the currently very popular big room . Shortly afterwards, they officially announced the change to the big room or electro house . Lift Off was able to advance to 12th place in the official Dutch top 40 within a very short time. It was through this song that the Dutch musician Hardwell became aware of the duo and recorded them for their upcoming single The Code , which was created on his record label "Revealed Recordings" together with Ummet Ozcan , who was also moving to the big room . The Code was thus supported by Hardwell himself on several appearances before the release and shortly afterwards it was number one on the Beatport charts. The first number one in this download portal for both W&W and Ozcan.

This was followed by a crossover between their old trance and their new big room style, for which they brought Armin van Buuren to their side. The song, which bears the title D # Fat , was another great club success and received particularly high praise from the fan base of her trance productions. At the same time, they worked with van Buuren on a remix of his currently commercially very successful single This Is What It Feels Like , which was released as a single single shortly afterwards. Their follow-up on Armada Thunder embodies a style similar to the remix , which brought the duo to number two on the Beatport charts one more time.

On July 27, 2013, they performed for the first time on the main stage of the Tomorrowland Festival in Belgium and were then able to move up to 14th place in the DJ-Mag Top 100.

On August 5th, 2013, the long-awaited collaboration with Dutch DJ Hardwell was released under the title Jumper . The track premiered at the Ultra Music Festival 2013 in Miami by both Hardwell and W&W, who performed there for the first time. Before the drop began, the song uses the vocal sample "1, 2, 3, Jump", which has become one of the most widely used vocal samples in the big room scene. Songs like Frontier by Vinai and Scndl, a number of mash-ups and live versions of various titles use the shout. Jumper became a great success and after only two days were number one in the Beatport Top 100 for over a week and were also able to grant a chart placement in France.

2014: Commercial breakthrough with Bigfoot

Logo of your record label "Mainstage Music"

In the spring of 2014, the first previews of their track Bigfoot appeared . The song had another big room drop, but the build-up did not match that of their previous singles. The duo received very positive reviews for the song in advance and the success was not long in coming. Bigfoot developed into their most successful single to date and W&W managed to achieve success for the first time far beyond the borders of their home country, including chart placements in Germany, Switzerland and France. On April 28, 2014, Hardwell's single Everybody Is in the Place was released , which was co-produced by the duo. The number gave them their first placement in the UK.

Parallel to Bigfoot's success , they were given residency at the Hakkasan Nightclub in Las Vegas, where the duo and DJs such as Tiësto and Dzeko & Torres play . In addition, appearances at major festivals followed. They played at the EDC in Las Vegas, the Ultra Music Festival in Miami and at Tomorrowland in Belgium on the MainStage. Their single Rocket , which they recorded together with Blasterjaxx , received both positive and negative criticism. Hardwell produced a mash-up of the track with his own song Spaceman , which he played as the “final track” at the 2014 Tomorrowland Festival. The official anthem for Tomorrowland is also from W&W. It is their track Waves , which was created in collaboration with the Belgian DJ duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike . This was able to advance into the top 10 of the Belgian singles charts and they only just missed a placement in the German singles charts. As a thank you for advancing to number 18 in the DJ-Mag charts, the second joint single with Hardwell The Dancefloor Is Yours was released as a free download towards the end of 2014 .

Further collaborations appeared in collaboration with the hardstyle DJ Headhunterz . Behind it are the tracks Shocker , which appeared on September 8, 2014, and We Control the Sound , whose release took place just a month later. Both tracks premiered at the EDC in Las Vegas. The tracks caused a positive sensation, in particular due to the combination of the big room style by W&W and Headhunterz Hardstyle. In December 2014, the duo released the long-awaited song Don't Stop the Madness as a single together with Hardwell . They have been playing this in their sets for months, but according to Hardwell the song lacked the final touches that were given by the American rapper Fatman Scoop . The song was able to advance to the top half of the download charts in numerous countries, but it still failed to rank in the single charts.

Spring 2015: Rave After Rave & The One

W&W live at the Breda Dance Music Festival 2017

In January 2015 Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike played W & W's instrumental piece Rave After Rave for the first time at the kick-off of their world tour "Bringing the World Madness" , which at the time was still considered an " ID ", so neither artist nor title were known. Hardwell played it again at a gig at the Ziggo Dome and Tiësto at Ultra Buenos Aires. The track sparked more and more rumors. Due to the similarity of the built-up to Thunder's , it was found early on that W&W was behind it, but the drop was very similar to that of the song No Heroes by producers KSHMR and Firebeatz , which is why a collaboration with one of the artists was assumed for a long time. It was fully confirmed that this is a solo track with the title Rave After Rave was on March 4th, 2015, the release date was March 16th, 2015.

On their set at the Ultra Music Festival 2015, the duo played numerous new songs, including collaborations with MOTi and Hardwell as well as a remix of the 2000 hit Blue (Da Ba Dee) by the Italian trio Eiffel 65 . On December 24th, 2015, the German producer duo Jaxx & Vega released a remake of the remix that was very close to the original and attracted a lot of attention. A second Blasterjaxx collab also made its debut at this festival. It bears the title Bowser and was played as a studio version for the first time in May 2015 in Tiësto's “Club Life” podcast and in Hardwell's “ Hardwell On Air 218”. The song received strong positive reviews. The release date was June 1, 2015 via "Revealed Recordings". The only point of criticism was that the studio version had significantly less power than the live version.

On June 12, 2015, W&W posted a teaser of their next single on Facebook. The One contains a pitched sample of the song How Will I Know by the singer Whitney Houston . In contrast to their other singles, they used a less aggressive electro house drop for the first time, for which they received strong positive feedback. On June 29, 2015, the song was published via "Armada Music". At the same time, they also uploaded the official music video of the song, which shows a compilation of their performance at the Ultra Music Festival.

Autumn 2015: Big-Room with MOTi & Trance with Armin van Buuren

Just a few days later, a one-minute teaser of the MOTi collaboration also appeared on Facebook . However, the song title and release date were announced quite a bit later, and it turned out that the song will be titled Spack Jarrow and will be released on August 24, 2015. The name is based on the character Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean film series . The reason for this is the melodic similarity to the official Pirates of the Caribbean film music He's a Pirate , which was already established in Rave After Rave .

On August 31, 2015, W&W released their official remix for the song Sun Is Shining by the Swedish DJ duo Axwell Λ Ingrosso . In contrast to the original track, the remix was produced in a big room style and quickly advanced to the official Beatport Top 100. Furthermore, a teaser of their long-awaited remix for Nico & Vinz ' Am I Wrong could be found on their Facebook profile , but there was no release. The reinterpretation of the Hardwell and Mr. Probz tracks Birds Fly , which was released as part of the remix album for Hardwell's United We Are , fared differently . In addition, a remix for Adele's hit track Hello was released together with producer Kenneth G.

In October 2015 they moved up four places to 14th place in the DJ-Mag voting.

On December 21, 2015, W&W released the single If It Ain't Dutch through their record label “Mainstage Music” , which was created in collaboration with Armin van Buuren . The track shows a fusion of trance and big room and consists of two different drops. While the first is more based on W & W's style, the second is more van Buurens-like and is reminiscent of his predecessor single Off the Hook with Hardwell. They premiered the track at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami, which made its way onto the Internet due to the shout entitled Your House Is Mine . The song quickly celebrated great successes and moved into the top 20 within a very short time.

2016: Great success with Arcade & Live the Night

Willem van Hanegem shows the W & W-W, in which the audience goes along.

Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike already played an unreleased song at Tomorrowland 2015, which attracted a lot of attention. This got into the ears of the fans in particular with its mysterious atmosphere and its intro, which is based on Armin van Buuren's ping pong . The song was heard again in the Tomorrowland Aftermovie, where it was officially announced for the first time that the " ID " was a collaboration with W&W. Towards the end of the year, numerous remakes under the title Fight spread on YouTube and SoundCloud. In mid-February 2016, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike finally announced that the song would be released on February 29, 2016, entitled Arcade . At the same time, they started a PR campaign on their website in which a selection of classic, well-known " arcade games " such as Mortal Kombat , Pac-Man or Donkey Kong can be played on a slot machine . The official music video, which appeared one day after the release on March 1, 2016, also shows the four comic-style producers being dragged into an arcade machine and assuming certain roles in various arcade games. The song was a great success and was in the top 10 of the Beatport charts and number one on the Belgian iTunes charts within a very short time. On the same day the song Run Wild by Hardwell and singer Jake Reese was also released, with W&W as co-producers.

At the end of March 2016, the duo played a remix of the 2016 world hit Faded by Alan Walker live, which spread the rumor that they were behind it, as they can boast a large number of remixes of current chart successes. The track turned out to be a rework by producers Tungevaag & Raaban . Her remix for Don't Let Me Down by the Chainsmokers and Daya was also released . Together with the two US-Americans, they premiered the new interpretation at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami. This version cannot be described in the field of electro house, but rather as a mix of happy hardcore and trap. In addition, the song How Many was released. After the premiere at the Creamfields Festival in Peru, an earlier version of the song hit the net and spread as a supposed collaboration with Showtek and Vassy . Behind the vocals, however, is the singer-songwriter Sophia Ayana.

The song Live the Night was released on July 11, 2016 . Behind this is a collaboration with Hardwell , which has been played by both Hardwell and W&W since 2013. The track was long awaited by the fans, but the trio did not agree with either an instrumental or a version recorded with Harisson. For the release version, the US crunk rapper Lil Jon was brought into the studio. The final version of Hardwell and W&W premiered together at the Revealed Festival on Nikki Beach in Miami. Critics said that the song would have been well produced, but that it was 3 years too late due to the ongoing reluctance.

Last year, the track Meet Her at Tomorrowland was on the compilation album The Secret Kindom of Melodia , which was released in the course of the Tomorrowland Festival . This forms a cover version of the song Meet Her at the Love Parade by Da Hool from 2000 and was produced together with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike . The title was released as a separate free track on August 8, 2016, but only appeared under Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike's name. Reasons for the disappearance of the single cover were not given.

The track Caribbean Rave, used as the intro of their sets between spring and autumn 2016, quickly spread on the Internet as a collaboration with the Canadian DJ duo DVBBS . After they denied their involvement, the rumor of a collab with the German duo Jaxx & Vega was launched. However, it was only a remake, which was too close to the original for W&W, which is why they demanded that the remake not be released. The official release date was October 31, 2016. The song was particularly convincing due to the lead sound, which is based on tropical sounds. The video also attracted attention in which a capsized man dressed in a pirate look was washed ashore on a Caribbean island and after looking for food he built a mixer out of wood. Behind this he imitates typical poses for selected DJs. These included headbanging from DVBBS, “Hey-Hoe” by Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike , “Cakeface” by Steve Aoki and David Guetta's empty look at Tomorrowland 2013.

W&W moved up another place in the DJ-Mag-Top-100 of 2016 and reached their highest position to date with number 13.

On November 18, 2016, they released their fifth official collaboration with Hardwell . This is called Get Down and has enjoyed great popularity since its premiere at the Ultra Music Festival. Unlike its predecessors, this track is based on jungle terror elements in combination with their typical big room style. Unlike its predecessor Live the Night, the track was released on "Revealed" and not on "Mainstage" and reached number 13 in the Beatport Top 100.

2017: Whatcha Need & Put EM Up

On January 6, 2017, the release of the song Whatcha Need was announced for January 23, 2017 . This has been circulating on the Internet under the title What You Need since spring 2016. In terms of genre, the title stands out from its standard big room sound, similar to some other titles last year, and embodies trance influences and shows rhythmic changes. The release of the song was spontaneously postponed by a few days to January 27, 2017, which is atypical for "Mainstage Music" in that it is normally released on Mondays.

On April 10, 2017, the song Put EM Up was released . On March 31, 2017, the song appeared on Kontor Records on one of their compilations. Put EM Up has long been traded as a collaboration with Ummet Ozcan due to the character traits. The track is based on their classic big room style combined with dance hall elements reminiscent of Lean On . In particular, a mash-up produced by Hardwell with Gasolina by Daddy Yankee caused popularity.

As part of a promotional campaign for the opening of the DJ-Mag voting, they announced the release of a previously unplayed track. This is based on the melody of the 2001 trance release ' Supa-Dupa-Fly' by the German DJ duo 666 .

On July 27, 2017, the duo released an official teaser of their collaboration with the Israeli psytrance duo Vini Vici . At the same time they announced the title with Chakra . The song is strongly based on the psychedelic trance style of the Israeli duo. The psytrance track was released as a single on September 18, 2017 and quickly became a success. A high number of clicks was achieved on several streaming platforms and the song also moved up to second place on Beatport.

During the Amsterdam Dance Event , the duo performed at the SLAM! Mix Marathon in the Ziggo Dome . Hardwell joined the duo as a special guest. The song Crowd Control, which was played at many festivals, was also released as a collaboration with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike on October 20, 2017. The song is based on the one hand on the idea of the song Orgasmo by Pavo & Zany, published in 2005 , whose vocals consist of the instructions "move it to the left, shake it to the right", and on the other hand on the fundamentals of a provisional hardstyle remix Stampede . During the drop, the duo encourages the festival crowd to put an arm over the shoulder of a neighbor and take eight steps to the left and to the right, so that the audience moves as a solid unit in one direction. In the course of Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike's appearance at ADE, W&W came on stage during the song and mirrored the audience together with Vegas on the edge of the stage.

At the twentieth edition of the DJ-Mag-Top-100 on October 21, 2017, W&W slipped one place and landed in 14th place.

2018: Supa Dupa Fly 2018 , God Is a Girl and realignment

W&W live at the Airbeat One Festival 2018

On December 18, 2017, her remake of the 666 classic Supa Dupa Fly was released on Beatport without any further promotion. After it was assumed that this was just the pre-release availability of Beatport, the song was removed after a short time. The full version quickly spread across the internet, while the official release continued to be dated early 2018. After the studio version was part of the 348th episode of Hardwell's "Hardwell-On-Air" podcast on January 5, 2018, it was deleted after a short time and re-uploaded without Supa Dupa Fly 2018 . 666 announced that W&W had initiated the publication without permission. They would have canceled and rejected the entire release. In the Yearmix edition of their “Mainstage Podcast” they played the studio version of their remix for the first time to the number one hit Habiba by the Dutch rapper Boef.

On January 30, 2018, W&W announced on their social networks that the release of a remake of the groove coverage song God Is a Girl would be imminent. The track, with which they presented a production with hands-up influences for the first time , was released as a free download on March 12, 2018. On April 9, 2018, Supa Dupa Fly 2018 finally followed as a single, after it was premiered again on "Hardwell On Air".

On May 7, 2018, W&W released the song Long Way Down, which premiered at Tomorrowland last year . This was developed in collaboration with the British DJ and producer Darren Styles and is based heavily on the influences of his UK hardcore style. The singer Giin contributed the vocals. The music video was shot in the anime style, which also played a role in the creation of the single cover.

At the beginning of July 2018, the duo announced a tour with the motto Year of the Dragon for 2018 and 2019 . Here they appear with both pseudonyms W&W and NWYR . The announcement was made in the form of an animated video showing a dragon, the symbol of their trance project, on two towers, both of which represent aliases. At the same time, they showed an insight into two upcoming single releases, which served as advertising for the 2018 DJ-Mag-Votings.

On October 1, 2018, a video appeared on all of her social media profiles that promised a break for her record label “Mainstage Music”. This should be realigned with a new logo and under the new name "Rave Culture". The song of the same name by the DJ duo could be heard in the background. Both the release of the song and the re-establishment of the record label should take place on October 8, 2018. At the same time, the DJ duo also changed their official logo. The official music video was the first in a dark agent story. Armin van Buuren had a guest appearance at the end of this part, who also acted as a reference to the following single.

W&W published their third collaboration with Armin van Buuren under the title Ready to Rave . This represents the duo's first hard trance production and was part of their sets at the beginning of 2018. A remix of Steve Aoki's commercial hit track Waste it on Me followed at the end of the month .

2019: Collaborations with various producers & II = I

In early 2019 it was announced that the song Repeat After Me would be released shortly. The track is a collaboration with the Belgian DJ duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and recurring with Armin van Buuren. The official music video shows scenes from Tomorrowland, in which all five musicians played the song together. Up to the top 10, the song was able to advance on Beatport.

After the duo was seen on the channel of the Japanese virtual YouTuber Kizuna AI in the summer of 2018 , the official single The Light followed on March 1, 2019 . The style was similar to the happy hardcore sound that Long Way Down last represented. On March 29, 2019, one of two collaborations with the Dutch trance and big room DJ Maurice West was released. Both songs were played for the first time with West at Tomorrowland 2018. Matrix , a Psytrance production, was the first single to be released.

On April 12, 2019, a single was released with the Dutch progressive house producer Nicky Romero . This was titled Ups & Downs and was expected since a Twitter post from October 2016 on which Romero and Willem could be seen. The track premiered during Romero's appearance on the Slam FM radio show. A month later, the duo released their third collaboration with Blasterjaxx. This was entitled Let the Music Take Control and was played for the first time just a few months earlier. The track was part of Blasterjaxx's studio album Perspective , which was released in summer 2019.

On July 26th, 2019 the song Khaleesi was released , which was created in collaboration with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Steve Aoki , who perform here under the project name 3 Are Legend. While the song was produced in 2016, it was played for the first time the following year, at which point it still contained a sample of the song Komodo (Save a Soul) by Italian DJ and producer Mauro Picotto . This sample has been removed for the final version. The title Khaleesi is a reference to the character Daenerys Targaryen from the American fantasy television series Game of Thrones , which the single cover alludes to.

After W&W posted a picture with Australian DJ and producer Timmy Trumpet on Instagram in February 2019 , which indicated a collaboration. The result, the melody of which was based on that of the track Tricky Tricky by the German hard trance project Busted, was played for the first time in July 2019. During the Amsterdam Dance Event, W&W performed together with Trumpet as II = I. It was announced that the Australian Melbourne bounce DJ Will Sparks would also be involved in the song. Shortly thereafter, the release date was set to November 11, 2019. The participation ofsequence, a part of the original interpreters, was announced. The title Tricky Tricky was retained.

2020: 20XX live stream

At the beginning of 2020, W&W announced the release of the song Do It For You , which they played for the first time at the Tomorrowland Festival 2019 together with the Dutch future bounce duo Lucas & Steve . This was scheduled for January 24, 2010, but could not be implemented due to copyright problems. The melody of the track was based on the song House of Justice by Dutch producers DJ Jose and G-Spott. After Supa Dupa Fly this is the second time that a publication had to be withdrawn due to a lack of rights.

The song Wizard of the Beats was released on February 24, 2020 . This represented a collaboration with the Dutch DJ and producer Sandro Silva and the Brazilian musician Zafrir. On March 5, 2020, it was announced that the second attempt at Do It For You would be released as a single on March 13, 2020 after the licensing issues were resolved.

On March 24, 2020, W&W appeared on platforms such as Twitch and Facebook as part of a live stream. This was titled 20XX and was created in collaboration with the organizers Insomniac and Alda Events . With the help of a green screen room, the principle of augmented reality was made possible and both an arena, audience and light show were digitally inserted in real time. The COVID-19 pandemic , which was active at the time, provided an opportunity to organize such an appearance .

On March 29, 2020, the duo released their sixth single with Belgian brothers duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. This was called Clap Your Hands and was created with additional support from the Dutch DJ and producer Fedde Le Grand . The melody of the song is based on the orchestral piece In the Hall of the Mountain King by Edvard Grieg from the second half of the 19th century.

Trance Side Project "NWYR"

W&W at Nature One

On February 10, 2017, the Ultra Music Festival announced the line-up of their 18th edition. In combination with the trance stage, the initially unknown name NWYR appeared, which the festival indirectly assigned to where the guys from W&W were after great demand. W&W also announced that they will be returning to the festival with new trance music. "NWYR" is an acronym for "New Year".

The style of the duo is composed of first, experimental and second, much harder and more melodic drops. The breaks are based on traits of classical music; so they use instruments such as piano, violin and orchestral singing. For the build-up for the drop, synthesizers such as XFer Records Serum, LennarDigital Sylenth1 and Native Instruments Massive are used.

On March 13, 2017 they released their first production under the pseudonym with a remix for Castle on the Hill by Ed Sheeran . However, her time in the big room area had a major impact on her new productions. At the same time, other songs were premiered, which suggested collaborations with Armin van Buuren and Hardwell.

On March 26th, 2017 they performed their new project at the Ultra Music Festival. There they played alongside new productions with remixes of Robert Miles ' Children , Phil Collins ' In the Air Tonight and Calvin Harris ' Flashback, among others . In addition to a series of club concerts, a performance at Tomorrowland 2017 was announced in May 2017.

On June 12th 2017 they released the first single of their new project. Behind this sing is an "ID" that was traded in spring 2016 as the third Armin van Buuren collab. After W&W announced the start of their new project, it became clear that this track would represent their debut single. The song circulated on various music platforms under the title Orchestra until the duo announced it as a free download for June 12, 2017 with the title Voltage .

In the course of a tweet of their promo campaign for the DJ-Mag-Votes 2017, they announced that the release of the song Dragon was due for autumn 2017 . At the same time, they announced the release of another new track with their separate NWYR promo video. The track Dragon was released on November 20, 2017 .

On February 17th, 2018 the duo played as NWYR a one-hour live set at A State Of Trance 850 in Utrecht. There they presented a whole range of new productions. The upcoming Single Ends of Time was also there . This was released on March 16, 2018 and forms the first vocal track of the project. The duo played a similar set in August 2018. Shortly thereafter, the first single from the set was released. This is called Time Spiral and is heavily influenced by psy-trance. A week later, the follow-up single Wormhole was released .

After a shop with official merchandise items was opened on March 16, 2019 , the promotion campaign for the song Artificial Intelligence , which was released as a free download on April 29, 2019, began.

Activity as authors

While they were active in the field of trance music, they appeared as co-producers for ElSandro, DJ Jean and Jochen Miller, among others. After their genre change to the big room, they also acted in the background here. The close friendship with Hardwell resulted in repeated songwriting credits for W&W. For example, they were involved in the creation of Everybody Is in the Place and Run Wild . Everybody Is in the Place was also able to record its first position in the British singles charts.

After participating in Vinais Techno , together with the German DJ duo Twoloud, they created the first draft of the song Fcuking Beats , from whose further development they however abandoned. At the end of 2016, the hardstyle big room crossover song Let it Move Ya by the Dutch hardstyle project Bass Modulators was released, in which they played a key role.

Together with British DJ and producer Digital Farm Animals, they wrote and produced the song Digital Love , which was released as the single on February 3, 2017. The American actress and musician Hailee Steinfeld participated as a singer . The track moved up to number 56 on the Scottish singles chart and to number 33 on the British dance charts.

Another co-production for Hardwell also took place in 2017. It was the song We Are One , the singing of which the Swedish singer-songwriter Alexander Tidebrink contributed. Another version was created with the Taiwanese mandopop singer Jolin Tsai for the Asian market. W & Ws stuck to this, not least through their appearance on Kizuna AI's YouTube channel; So in 2018 they produced the song Ice Cream for the Japanese pop band lol .
