Mainstage Music ( dt. Main stage music ) was a Dutch record label by the Dutch in 2012, DJ - and producer duo W & W alias Willem van Hanegem and Wardt van der Harst was founded. It belongs to the major label " Armada Music ", behind which Armin van Buuren is hiding. The label is mainly designed for the release of productions from the field of electro house (especially big room ) and progressive house . The roots lie in the trance music , in which the duo was active when the label was founded. Meanwhile they also take care of the publication of hardstyle productions. For the most part, there are no obligations for artists who have published via “Mainstage-Music”, which means that projects such as Twoloud and D-Block & S-te-Fan or musicians such as Wildstylez and Armin van Buuren sometimes only publish individual songs on the label.

In October 2018 the record label was closed and transformed into W & W's new label "Rave Culture".

history

On April 9, 2012, W&W announced with the words: “We are happy and honored to start our own label under the wings of Armada, that will showcase our music and the music we love!” In German “We are happy and honored with ours to be able to start their own label under the wings of Armada, which should represent our music and also the music we love. ”That they found their own record label“ Mainstage Music ”.

The first release is their single Shotgun by the duo themselves. This took place parallel to the founding of the record label on April 9, 2012. Already the second release Raptor comes from the studio of other artists, that of Bas Van Essen and Rick Mitchells, which also years later was still active on the label. Just five months later, on September 14, 2012, the first compilation Mainstage, Vol. 1 , was released, which contained a selection of productions for “Mainstage”. All releases of the label up to December 2012 correspond to the character traits of trance music. In addition, a “best of sampler” has been published annually since 2012.

On December 3, 2012, the song Lift Off by W&W was released, which should initiate their switch to big room music. “Mainstage Music” also experienced this change, so 2013 began with the big room production Ultra by Husman. Lift Off also represents the first release that could enter the charts. This took place in the Netherlands with 87th place in the top 100.

It wasn't until 2014 that the label achieved its first international chart success with the song Bigfoot . This developed into one of the most important big room releases ever and was among the top 100 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland thanks to the cooperation with the German record label " Kontor Records ". They also reached number one in the charts for the first time with Bigfoot on Beatport . The Remix EP also covered genres such as trap hardstyle and deep house for the first time. Furthermore, the design of the single cover was redesigned in 2014. The label's logo is no longer visible on a gray background and the artist and title in an individual color on a strip above, but the title and artist in the middle of the cover on a title-related background.

Like a number of other record labels, an EP was released on September 12, 2014 with the title #BeatportDecade; Progressive House , featuring ten of the label's most successful tracks on Beatport. At the beginning of 2015 the label began to expand its spectrum of genres, with singles by Wildstylez and Noisecontrollers songs with hardstyle-based sounds and a successful trap production with Hookah . As part of the Ultra Music Festival, the “Mainstage Music” event was held on March 28, 2015 at Club Space in Miami, where a number of the label's DJs, including DBSTF , Kenneth G and MOTi, played . If It Ain't Dutch appeared as the second Armin van Buuren collaboration in December 2015 and became one of the label's most successful releases due to the strong attention it received at festivals and in download portals.

In 2016, “Mainstage” released the track Live the Night by W&W, which has been expected since 2013, in collaboration with Hardwell . Originally the song was supposed to appear on his "Revealed", which they decided against due to the planned release of Get Down . Sunlight by Zatox and Let it Move Ya by Bass Modulators formed two successful hardstyle releases from 2016. In addition, with Zantar by Maestro Harrell and NoTech, a jungle terror production on “Mainstage” was brought to light for the first time .

Former actors Maestro Harrell , Kenneth G and Maurice West are considered to be the best-known artists who have been produced by "Mainstage" over the past three years . All of them also show some elements and traits from W&W productions as trademarks of the label in their productions . In the course of this, however, it is often assumed that W&W were involved in most of the tracks before they were released.

With the promotion campaign for W & W's upcoming single Rave Culture , it was also announced on October 1, 2018 that the record label will no longer be continued in the form of "Mainstage Music". At the same time they announced the founding of their new record label "Rave Culture".
