history

Until 2014: musical beginnings & foundation

The project was founded in 2014 by Marvin Chilla (Jaxx) and Florian Griese (Vega), who met in their hometown of Herten , North Rhine-Westphalia . Chilla started producing hip-hop music from the age of 12 after he was given a music program for Christmas. In the following years he orientated himself bit by bit towards house music . Griese started out as a DJ. At the age of eleven he experimented with the computer program Virtual DJ, after which he bought some equipment. At the age of 15 he first played.

As a source of inspiration they name the Dutch DJ and producer duo W&W , whose live performances they regularly followed. Unpublished songs were often heard at their concerts, which Jaxx & Vega tried to reproduce true to the original. They then shared their remakes on, among others, YouTube and SoundCloud. As the number of clicks increased, they extended this approach to the tracks of other artists and also produced numerous bootlegs.

In October 2014 the German DJ and producer Housegeist released the song Make Some Noise , to which Jaxx & Vega contributed a remix. This marks their first official release. On December 5, 2014, their first official single, Blizzard, was released on the German EDM label "Badaboom Records". The follow-up single Apocalypto was created together with the German DJ and producer Chronix, with whom they already worked on the creation of several bootlegs.

2015 to 2016: Bonerizing Records

On September 8, 2015, they released another official remix. They contributed this to the song Hells Bells by the German musicians Chris Fielding and Serkan Denizer, which was released on the Swedish record label "Bonerizing Records". The remix is based on a remake that they produced at the end of 2014 after the song erroneously entered the Internet under the title Alhambra and assigned to producers Martin Garrix and Thomas Newson . Even before the original track was released, her bootleg had over a million clicks on YouTube.

After their first release on "Bonerizing Records" they signed a record deal with the music label. In 2016 they released the single Raise Up there , for which they worked with the duo Ne7code. Only a few months later followed another collaboration with Chronix, which appeared under the title Blade . Both tracks made it into the genre charts of the Beatport download portal . In the following months they released various singles, for which there were several collaborations with other artists. In addition, their bootlegs were increasingly played by larger musicians such as Tiësto or Hardwell both in live sets and in radio shows.

In the summer of 2016 they released a preview of their remake of the previously untitled song, which the Dutch DJ duo W&W used as an intro at the time. After rumors were spread that the unreleased track would be a collaboration, Jaxx & Vega were contacted by W&W and asked to hold back the bootleg.

At the end of 2016 Florian Griese left the formation to devote himself to his new project Natixx. His place as Vega was taken by the German DJ and producer Janis Rothenburger, who was previously active under the pseudonym Chronix and worked with the duo several times.

2017 to 2018: Smash the House

In January 2017 they started their podcast radio show Soundcontrol , in which they present current tracks by themselves as well as by other artists. In the summer of 2017, they performed for the first time in front of a large festival audience. It all started with their appearance at the BigCityBeats World Club Dome in June 2017. In July 2017 they played at the Open Beatz Festival in Nuremberg. There they got to know W&W personally. At the same time they released the single Pulsar on the Finnish record label "TNC Recordings" , which was created in collaboration with the US DJ duo Bl3r.

After the Belgian brother duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike became aware of them, Jaxx & Vega appeared as a support act at their Bringing-the-Madness concert in December 2017. They were also signed to their record label "Smash the House".

On February 9, 2018, they contributed a remix to the song Deja-Vu by Australian DJ and producer Timmy Trumpet . In the genre charts of the download portal Beatport, the song moved up to number 11. A few days later, the song Victorum followed , the melody of which is based on the song The Taste of Summer by the German DJ duo Sonic Inc. from 2001. For this they worked together with the Belgian DJ duo D'Angello & Francis and the German DJ and producer Le Shuuk . The song developed into a first big success and reached number 27 on the Beatport charts and over 1.5 million clicks on Spotify.

2019 to 2020: Rave Culture

In spring 2019, the song Raveheart was released as the follow-up single to Victorum . For this they worked again with Le Shuuk and D'Angello & Francis. They also released the song Soundcontrol about "Smash the House", which was created together with the German producer Seeq. This also made it into the Beatport Top 100.

After several references to a collaboration with the Dutch EDM duo Bassjackers in the previous months, the joint single Limitless was released on September 2, 2019 via " Spinnin 'Records " . This reached the mark of one million streams on Spotify within a short time. In addition, an official music video in which all four artists could be seen was shot.

In October 2019 they performed at the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) together with the Hungarian DJ and producer duo SaberZ, with whom they had previously worked for numerous bootlegs . There they premiered, among other things, a joint single. The set was part of the program of the W&W founded music label "Rave Culture", to which they were signed. The debut single We Came to Rave was released there in November 2019 .
