Revealed Music ( German  revealed music ) is a Dutch record label that was founded in 2010 by the Dutch DJ and producer Robbert van de Corput alias Hardwell as Revealed Recordings . It belongs to the music company "Cloud9 Music". The Dutch producer Sebastien Lintz also acts as label and artist manager. The label is mainly designed for the release of productions from the field of electro house (especially big room and dirty Dutch ) and progressive house . For the most part, there are no obligations for artists who have published via "Revealed Music", which means that projects such as Blasterjaxx and W&W or musicians such as Headhunterz and KSHMR sometimes only publish individual songs via the label.

history

The intention of founding the label was to create a platform for young talents to offer them a springboard. Artists such as Julian Calor , Joey Dale or his friends Dannic and Dyro have emerged from this so far . The first release on "Revealed", however, was Hardwell himself on December 4, 2010 with his collaboration with DJ Funkadelic , which is called Get Down Girl . Basically, on November 12, 2010 the compilation Hardwell Presents: Revealed Recordings Vol. 1 was the first release on the label, but only the major label "Cloud 9" is given for all album releases.

On December 19, 2011, the so-called Revealed Collection was released, which contains numerous productions from the label's studios. The song Call Me a Spaceman with Mitch Crown, released in 2012, was the first release of the label to enter the official Dutch singles charts. On January 29, 2015, Hardwell announced that a so-called bus tour through North America was planned for April 2014. He pulled this through together with his friends Dannic and Dyro, which established the term “Dutch House Mafia”. Rumors that this would still arise continue to this day.

On September 12, 2014 the record label released an EP entitled #BeatportDecade; Progressive House , which contains the ten most successful tracks from the label on Beatport. In the spring of 2015, on the occasion of the 5th anniversary, fans were asked to vote for their favorites of all "Revealed Music" releases. Hardwells Spaceman won , followed by Burn from KSHMR and DallasK and Left Behind from Paris Blohm and Taylr Renee. On March 6, 2015, the first episode of "Revealed Radio" was hosted. This presented several upcoming single releases on the label. Since then , a one-hour set mixed by a well-known DJ has been put online for streaming before every “ Hardwell On Air ” episode, on Fridays at 11 p.m. In April 2015, Hardwell's collaboration with Martin Garrix was originally supposed to be published as REVR 160, but this has been canceled.

The first studio album was released on May 1st, 2015. This was produced by newcomer Julian Calor and is called Evolve . This was praised through and through and was able to advance to the top 10 of the Beatport charts. Since 2015 you can find the "Revealed Stages" at numerous festivals such as Tomorrowland or Creamfields , where label-representing DJs play. On March 9, 2016, the so-called Miami Sampler was released , which consists of songs by newcomers and new artists on the label.

In 2017, the entire design was relaunched. The single covers have been redesigned since then. The YouTube channel as well as the website received a new design. Since then, the "Demos of the Week" played in Hardwell's "Hardwell On Air" have been released as free downloads from the record label.

In April 2018, the sub-label "Gemstone Records" was officially launched, which is to specialize in particular in genres suitable for radio, including deep house, future bass and electro pop. The first release came through the song Ego by Rich Edwards and Victoria Voss.

In mid to late August 2018, the record label was renamed from "Revealed Recordings" to "Revealed Music". Sebastien Lintz commented on this via Twitter, while no statement was published on "Revealed" 's side. As a reason, Lintz explained the functionality of the record label, which no longer focuses exclusively on song releases. Attached he announced that further upheavals were planned for the coming years.

After "Revealed" founder Hardwell played his last concert for the time being in October 2018, he concentrated on the growth of the record label in the following year. Not only were the entire company location enlarged and modernized, but another imprint was founded after “Gemstone Records”. This was called "Revealed Radar" and is intended for the publication of songs by smaller artists. The songs appear as part of weekly extended plays as a free download. Furthermore , the first episode of the "Revealed" podcast went online at the same time as the release of the debut studio album by Swedish DJ and producer Kaaze . Hardwell described the entire restructuring and expansion of the “Revealed” brand as a step “from a music label to a recording company ” (“From a record label to a record company”) .

Origin of name

In the second episode of the "Revealed" podcast, van de Corput explained that the idea for the label's name came from a quote from a friend. After Hardwell had unsuccessfully sent his demos to various labels, he said that he “had to reveal the world [with his own label] who Hardwell is” (to reveal the world, who Hardwell is).

Publications

The publications usually appear on Wednesdays and Fridays. Exceptions are songs that are suspected of having chart potential, which mostly affects Hardwell's songs. Since the chart weeks usually start on Fridays, you can find them in all online stores . The covers of the single releases are marked with a "REVR" and the corresponding release number in the lower right corner. Other publications, including albums, remix EPs or songs that were released in cooperation with other labels, are given an SP number. While there were only 17 releases in the first year, there were already 71 single releases in 2015 .

Discography

Since it was founded, 19 releases have reached number 1 on the Beatport charts, and 14 songs have so far reached placements in the official single charts. These are made up of 12 productions by Hardwell, Blasterjaxx ' Mystica and Yee by Deorro . The most successful single is the song Dare You by Hardwell and Matthew Koma , which made it into the top 100 in five countries and reached its highest position with 13th place in Belgium. Yee follows with five top 100 entries and number 29 as the top position.
