Sick Individuals are a Dutch music producer and DJ duo from Hilversum consisting of Rinze 'Ray' Hofstee and Joep 'Jim' Smeele. They gained fame through remixes for international pop stars like Madonna and Rihanna . Her other progressive house productions have been released under various well-known labels, mainly under Revealed Music .
Career
Beginnings & fame through remixes
The two first met in 2008 when they were studying Music Composition and Production at the Utrecht University of the Arts (HKU) in Hilversum. Their official collaboration as Sick Individuals started in 2010. They first produced music for TV commercials before turning to house music and sending their works to various labels. In the field of electronic music, they name daft punk and generally various musical styles such as jazz , hip-hop and trance as musical influences . Ray also includes classical music and Frank Sinatra . Because of his mother, a soprano , he grew up musically. He himself can be heard as a vocalist on some tracks .
The name Sick Individuals comes from their MC from early times, who used the word "Sick" excessively during their performances.
By 2013 they produced mostly remixes, which were picked up by Calvin Harris , Swedish House Mafia and Afrojack . In particular with their remix for Icona Pop - I Love It from 2012, they first drew attention in the EDM scene.
Collaboration with Revealed
Their final breakthrough came at the end of 2013 with two collaborations: Together with Axwell , the track I AM was released under his label Axtone . The track Blueprint was created with Dannic on Hardwell's record label Revealed Music . Both songs reached number 1 on the Beatport charts and recorded millions of views on YouTube. Their solo releases from 2014 Lost & Found and Made For This , also under Revealed , were able to build on their success. They produced further remixes for Rihanna, Avicii , Flo Rida and Madonna, among others . Since then they have been playing at the biggest festivals in the world such as the Ultra Music Festival , Tomorrowland , Mysteryland and Sensation . Part of their live concept is to control the visuals themselves in real time from their DJ booth. In particular, they are a regular line-up on stages hosted by Revealed . This also included a masterclass as part of the Dancefair 2018, where they presented their own audio plug-in Focus One .
They also mixed five episodes of Revealed Radio (# 57, # 75, # 93, # 110, # 156). Her own radio show THIS IS SICK reaches several 10,000 listeners every month. The first collaboration with label founder Hardwell took place in January 2018. After he played the song Get Low for the first time together with Sick Individuals on the main stage of Ultra Europe in Croatia, it was released on Hardwell & Friends EP # 3 .
