Career

2012: foundation

Even before the merger, both musicians were active as DJs and producers. Jewelz released his official debut single If U Luv Me together with Meesh in December 2007 on the Mannheim label Amused Records. In the years 2007-2011 many publications and remixes for u. a. Nicky Romero , Joachim Garraud , Medina , Jennifer Paige , Da Hool and Starkillers. Scott Sparks founded his own label "Straightline Records" in 2010. In 2011 he published his first official release there under the title Insane .

The two musicians met during their studies in the field of music business and music production at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg . Although they did not go to the same class, they got to know each other better because they had the same taste in music. In addition, both produced their music in a similar way. After their meeting, they decided to start a first collaboration. The duo said that they developed their ideas via Skype and continued or carried them out using a file stored in their Dropbox . But only finish a song when they are both in their studio together.

2013: First successes with Toxic Rush & Flashbang

Shortly after they started together as a duo, their song Toxic Rush was completed , which was signed by Fedde Le Grand's record label "Flamingo Recordings" and was also released as a single on Beatport in September 2012. Toxic Rush was a surprise hit. While none of the solo tracks enjoyed great popularity, this single marks its first placement in the Beatport Top 100. Support included David Guetta , Tiësto and Hardwell , who played the big room song in their sets and praised it in their podcasts. Furthermore, several requests for appearances and record contracts followed. In December 2012 their second single with the title Flashbang followed . This was able to surpass the commercial success of its predecessor and moved up to 13th place on Beatport and also received a strong reach thanks to Fedde Le Grands.

In 2013 they started with the single NYMSN . The title is a sequence of the first letters of the words "New York make some noise", which represent the shout for the onset of the drop. However, the release did not take place, like the first two tracks, on "Flamingo" - but on MYNC's record label "Cr2 Records". The connection to the well-known label was also formed by Le Grand, who also has a number of releases on "Cr2 Records". In the course of the year the releases of the double single Hot Rod / White Sun and the Track Cargo followed . At the same time, the establishment of the electro subgenre big room , to which the style of Jewelz & Sparks also corresponded , developed more and more . Initially, this was still referred to as a modification of Progressive House ', while in the end they are co-founders of this genre due to their progressiveness.

On December 7th, 2013 they made their biggest gig to date. This took place at the Ministry of Sound Festival in Great Britain.

2014: Commercial success & appearances as a headliner

On January 13, 2014 the duo released their first single in the field of progressive house. This is called Unless We Forget and was recorded together with the Canadian singer Quilla. Compared to their previous singles, Unless We Forget is a lot calmer, more melodic and puts a lot of emphasis on the vocals. The song advanced to number 13 on the Beatport charts and received strong support thanks to its highly regarded release on Hardwell's record label " Revealed Recordings ". It has been played at major festivals such as the Ultra Music Festival and Tomorrowland . In April 2014, a remix by the young Dutch DJ Julian Calor was released , which brought the song back onto the Beatport charts. At the same time, her next production, Pharao, was released on "Revealed".

On June 2, 2014 they released the production Kingdom via Sander van Doorn's "Doorn Records" , which could be classified even more strongly than their previous singles in the big room genre. Furthermore, it became much more unofficial than it was officially the anthem for the 2014 edition of the Airbeat One Festival. On Beatport they reached number 14 and brought them for the first time in connection with "Spinnin 'Records". The German producer Virtual Riot worked as a co-producer. Dope was the title of the follow-up single that came out just three weeks later. This made a return to "Flamingo Recordings" and was again a lot more special than Kingdom . For the “Be Yourself Music” compilation, which was released as part of the Sensation Festival, they remixed the track again.

On July 12th, 2014, they performed together on the main stage of the Ultra Music Festival in Croatia, topping their biggest performance to date, the Ministry of Sound. They were also headliners at the World Club Dome in Frankfurt, at Airbeat One in Neustadt-Glewe and at the Billboard Club in Melbourne. They also completed a tour that took place around the globe. There were stopovers in Singapore, Japan and the USA, among others.

In late summer to fall 2014, the double single Phantom & Reptile was released on Steve Aoki's "Dim Mak-" and Motor on Calvin Harris ' "Fly Eye Records".

2015–2016: I Can Fly & Hoe

On March 16, 2015 Jewelz & Sparks' first collaboration Robotic with Fedde Le Grand . This still represents the area of the big room and has brought the duo back into the Beatport Top 20 for the first time since summer 2014. The release took place via Le Grands' record label "Darklight Recordings", which was only founded in January 2015. Just a month later, Parade 98 was released , the break of which is a mix of modern vocal cuts and retro-tinged tech house elements, and a change to their typical big room style can be heard in the Drop. The video is based on old rave recordings and should appear absurd but at the same time funny to the viewer.

After the release of Mental on Le Grands “Darklight Records” in autumn 2015, it was announced that they were the producers behind the song I Can Fly . The soundtrack appeared in the course of Tiësto's appearance at the Ultra Music Festival and circulated through the Internet as the Underwater ID of Tiësto and KSHMR until November 2015 , creating a lot of tension and at the same time providing support earlier. I Can Fly was released on November 30, 2015 via Tiësto's "Musical Freedom" and was Jewelz & Sparks' first Beatport Top 10 hit and the first number one in the genre charts. Here, too, Virtual Riot worked as a co-producer. The song increased the fan base by a long way and was recognizable thanks to the drop.

The next single was released in March 2016. The title of the song is Drip and was released on Blasterjaxx '"Maxximize Records". Although the song did not follow the success of I Can Fly , it enjoyed great popularity. In an interview they announced that they want to collaborate more in the future. They fulfilled this resolution with their following single Hoe , which was created in collaboration with DOD. While at first it was assumed that the "Hoe" refers to the English word for "hooker", it quickly became clear that it stands for the participation of the fans with the exclamation of "Hey, hoe" during a performance. Hoe received consistently positive feedback. It was praised in particular for its mixing of the big room style with bass and future house elements. The song reached number 15 on Beatport.

In the course of the DJ-Mag voting, they released five free tracks in summer 2016. Crank made the start . The song quickly gained popularity and was supported by W&W , DVBBS and Hardwell, among others, during the festival season . Stylistically, it was similar to I Can Fly and Drip . It was similar in number two, published on July 18, 2016 with the title Need You . Parallel Lines, on the other hand, corresponded to a calmer progressive trousers garment. The singer of the pop duo Catze took care of the vocals. The song Into the Blue was even quieter . The Tropical number was released with Sarazar , known in particular from YouTube Let's Plays, and the singer Pearl Andersson on August 12, 2016 via Warner Music. A short time later the next free track was released. This is called Who's Your Daddy and received further attention through its use in the Airbeat One aftermovie.
