Jennifer Paige
Jennifer Paige (* 3. September 1973 in Marietta , Georgia as Jennifer Scoggins ) is an American pop singer and songwriter . The high point of her career was the world hit Crush , released in the summer of 1998 .
biography
Jennifer Paige was born into a family of musicians in Marietta (near Atlanta ). She started singing when she was five. She mostly did this in coffee shops or restaurants, together with her older brother Chance Scoggins . She studied dance, voice and performing arts at Pebblebrook High School . At the age of 17, she returned to Los Angeles and toured across the United States .
When Paige happened to meet actress and singer Crystal Bernard while performing in Las Vegas , she was thrilled by her voice. In August 1996, Paige performed in front of over 50,000 spectators at the Olympics in her hometown of Atlanta. That same year, Paige got together with producer Andy Goldmark . They wrote a lot of songs together. Paige signed a record deal with the German music label Edel Records .
In 1998 Goldmark and Paige completed a song called Crush . This song became a worldwide hit in the summer of 1998. It reached number 3 in the US, sold over 500,000 copies and received gold . In Great Britain it reached number 4. It also reached the top 20 in German-speaking countries. Paige followed up with her debut album of the same name and then toured around the world. In 1999 u. a. Appearances at the World Music Awards in Monte Carlo and at the Pope in Rome. In the USA and Great Britain it remained with this one hit, which is why Paige is also considered a one-hit wonder here .
Their second album Positivly Somewhere was not a commercial success. With a new team she produced her third album Best Kept Secret , which was released on April 25, 2008. In 2009 she released the song Beautiful Lie with Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter , which reached number 19 in the German single charts.
Paige is married to her husband Jason. Their daughter Stella Rose was born on October 5, 2014.
In December 2015, their fourth album with the working title Daydreamer was funded on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter.com . The album was released in 2017 under the title Starflower .
