KAAZE (real name: Mick Kastenholt; born January 30, 1989 ) is a Swedish EDM -DJ and music producer from Helsingborg . He gained fame through his publications under Revealed Recordings and the collaboration with its label founder Hardwell . Since then he has been an important representative in the field of progressive house .

Career

Beginnings and discovery by Tiësto

Kastenholt grew up in a musical family. At the age of four he learned to play the piano and drums from his father. After hearing his first house track at the age of 16 , he bought his first DJ equipment. Shortly afterwards he had his first appearance, due to his young age, still accompanied by his mother. Thanks to his multi-instrumental background, he quickly got into music production.

A demo eventually caught Tiësto's attention . The two of them met for the first time during the Summerburst Festival 2012 in Sweden, whereupon Kaaze accompanied him to his Hakkasan performances in Las Vegas . He moved the center of his life there and began to publish music under the name KAAZE, a coincidental modification of his surname. Before that, he did this under his maiden name, which he considered unsuitable internationally. He was signed to Tiësto's Red Light Management and a closer collaboration began in 2014: his remix for Tiësto - Maximal Crazy was seen by 16 million Facebook users, making his first name in the scene. His first single, Drop The Power , was released on Tiësto's Musical Freedom label. The common track Rocky was released on Tiësto's album A Town Called Paradise .

In 2015 Kaaze played on Airbeat One and together with Danny Avila delivered the festival anthem Close Your Eyes for Parookaville .

Breakthrough and collaboration with Hardwell & Revealed

After Kaaze released a bootleg for The Chemical Brothers - Hey Boy Hey Girl , Hardwell contacted him about the matter. The Dutchman developed into his mentor, with whom he was in constant contact. Kaaze remixed his song Echo , which appeared on the remixed edition of the album United We Are . Hardwell remixes for Run Wild and Thinking About You followed later . Also at the end of 2015, the first production under Hardwell's label Revealed Recordings took place : together with the German DJ duo Twoloud , with whom there had been collaborations before, the track Magi was created . The first solo single called Tell Me was released in March 2016 and reached number 2 on the Beatport charts. Kaaze has been officially under contract with Revealed Recordings' parent company Cloud 9 Music since June 2016 .

His own EP series ShowKaaze , each consisting of 3 songs, was released for the first time in August 2016 and included a. the festival hit Freedom . The follow-up EP # 2 from November 2017 with the song End Of The World was also very popular. The song Triplet , premiered by Hardwell at the Ultra Music Festival and entitled "Miami ID of the year", marks his final breakthrough. The first collaboration between the two came after 2 years with the song We Are Legends , which appeared in the Hardwell & Friends EP # 1 . He is also mentioned in the credits to Hardwell's intro song Who's In The House . Another song played by Hardwell on Ultra 2018 called This Is Love is also traded as a collaboration between the two. This was confirmed by Hardwell when he performed the final version of it at Tomorrowland. The official release with vocals by Loren Allred was at the end of August.

Kaaze hosted a total of five episodes of Revealed Radio (# 39, # 80, # 117, # 142, # 165), mixed the Sound of Revealed 2016 and contributed 2 guest mixes to Hardwell's podcast Hardwell On Air (# 283, # 341). He is also an integral part of the line-up of Revealed stages at major festivals (7th Sunday, Ultra Europe, Mysteryland ). On August 11, 2018, he headlined a major festival for the first time. Together with Revealed colleague Maddix , with whom he had already toured China, he played the closing at the Lakedance Festival in front of 20,000 visitors.

Style and personal

The sound of Kaaze can generally be described as melodic progressive, which is characterized by different influences, especially from his childhood. His mother introduced him to house and 80s disco music. But roots in glam rock are also recognizable, so he heard bands like Aerosmith , Whitesnake and Earth, Wind and Fire . He names Hardwell and Michael Jackson in general as musical idols in the house area .

His striking outfit is striking, a custom-made leather jacket embroidered with roses and fitted with metal spikes. This look common for rock stars reaffirms its roots in the genre.

According to its own statements, Kaaze had no management until March 2018, despite 700,000 listeners a month on different platforms. In September 2018, the value was 1 million on Spotify.

He has been married to Samantha Kastenholt since December 2015. At the beginning of 2018 he moved back with her to his home country Sweden.

Kaaze has a quarter of German ancestors.
