Hardwell on Air (HOA abbreviated, English as "Hardwell on air") is a weekly radio show that the Dutch DJ and producer Hardwell is hosted. Since March 4, 2011, the program has been broadcast live on Fridays from 11:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. on his official YouTube and Facebook profile. A number of Internet and FM radio stations broadcast the podcast in their program. In the show, he presents new productions in a one-hour set from, according to his own statement, the areas of electro , progressive and tech house . For some time now , the episodes have ended with a hardstyle track and there are also discrepancies between the genres during the sets. All episodes are available for free download on iTunes in the “Podcasts” category.

concept

The sets are one hour long and begin with a single player. This consists of a distorted voice that threads each episode with the same sequence of words: “Are we on Air? Welcome to the soundtrack of your nightlife. One hour of the present and future. Tune in, to Hardwell on air ”. The soundtrack of the intro consists of the song Encoded by Hardwell himself from 2011. This is followed by an episode-related statement by Hardwell. Usually this is followed by one or more quieter songs. The following categories are processed in each episode:

Hardwell Exclusive: One or more songs that appear on " Revealed Recordings " and / or were produced by Hardwell himself.
Track of the Week: A newly released song that impresses with its high quality and / or other factors.
Demo of the Week: A demo track sent to Hardwell or the label.

After the different categories have been dealt with, the music style is usually changed to Hardstyle or Future-Bass for the finale, whereupon the episode is moderated by Hardwell. For numerous songs, a shout or a tag is added in advance that refers to the podcast in order to protect against the use of those songs before release. In this regard, for example, there was an uproar in early 2017 when a video hit the Internet showing a Korean DJ duo playing Jewelz & Sparks ' Grande Opera and a song performance by Hardwell during the break and before Drop a "Hardwell-On-Air" shout sounds. This accordingly indicated that the duo recorded the track from the podcast and did not receive it legally. Since then, the duo have played the track along with the day as a running gag .

During the now more than 300 episodes, there were several special episodes in which, for example, the release of a sound carrier was celebrated or guest parts from other DJs are part of the set. Below is a selection of special episodes:

# 076: Since the numbering of this episode matches the postcode of his hometown Breda , he only played songs by producers from Breda, including Tiësto , R3hab and W&W .
# 100: In the 100th episode, the design was revised.
# 114: The episode coincided with part of his "I-Am-Hardwell-World-Tour-Kick-Off" concert.
# 200: In this, the design of the podcast was realigned a second time.
# 201: This episode was used to introduce his debut album United We Are . The track list consisted of all the songs that could be found on the album.
# 244: The episode was the remix version of United We Are .
# 300: The episode was played live. In addition to the set, on which Jay Hardway , Blasterjaxx , Kill the Buzz , Don Diablo , Wiwek and Suyano could be heard as guests, there were interviews with these and other musicians.
# 301: The design has seen a third refresh.
# 350: broadcast live from the studio of A State Of Trance . Presentation of the Hardwell & Friends EP Vol. 3 with interviews and live sets of the participants such as Jewelz & Sparks , Kura , Sick Individuals and Dr Phunk .
