history

Until 2013: musical beginnings

Alessandro and Andrea Vinai come from Brescia, a city in northern Italy. They started DJing and producing themselves early on. After they quickly established themselves in the dance scene and participated solo in various projects, they began working together in 2011. Several remixes were released in the following time, including reinterpretations for Pound The Alarm by Nicki Minaj and LMFAO's Sexy And I Know It . Furthermore, they released the Italian record label "Saifam Group" on March 18, 2012, still under their full name, the song Take Me Away , which corresponded to the genre Progressive House.

In the spring of 2013 they appeared for the first time as "Vinai". They then signed a record deal with the Italian record label "Time Records". The song Bad Boys was created in collaboration with DJ and producer Alex Gray . Here they used an electro house drop. The single was released on March 22, 2013 and was supported by Sidney Samson and Tommy Trash , among others . In July 2013 they started the podcast “VINAI presents WE ARE” in which they played different songs by different artists in a one-hour mix. In the first episode they put, among other things, the track Hands Up , the style of which was decisive for their successor singles. DJ greats like Deorro , Dvbbs and Showtek became aware of the duo and used the instrumental piece in many of their sets. In particular, the American DJ MAKJ provided the duo with strong support. They followed up with a remix for Don Diablo's Starlight on behalf of “Axtone Records”.

Only a few months later the song Reset was released together with Prezioso . The songs Pullover with Dr. Space, Who Said with Planet Funk and Core Micha Moor. As a thank you for the support and the promotion into the international dance scene, they made the track Bullet , which they recorded together with Error404, available for free download on their official Facebook page. With all three songs they represented the electro house genre. The 22nd episode of their “WE ARE” podcast consisted of their 2013 favorites.

2014: International breakthrough with u. a. Raveology

In January 2014 they signed a record deal with the successful Dutch label " Spinnin 'Records ". Shortly afterwards, the song Raveology appeared in collaboration with the Canadian DJ duo Dvbbs . The song helped Vinai achieve her ultimate breakthrough. With the track they reached the download charts of numerous countries, number one in the Beatport Top 100 and entered the official Belgian singles charts. They also received positive feedback from DJs such as Hardwell , Martin Garrix or Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike . The style of the song is similar to Vinai's Hands Up and was first awarded by " Billboard ". To date, the official music video has been viewed over 30 million times.

In spring 2014, numerous remixes followed, including for Niels van Gogh feat. Princess Superstars Miami or the song Unstoppable by R3hab and Eva Simons . At the same time, a further collaboration with R3hab was announced. Before that, however, the song Bounce Generation was released as a single. This is a collaboration with the DJ and producer TJR. The song turned out to be a combination of both styles. For the first drop they used a similar sound as for Hands Up or Raveology , for the second part a style based on TJR's Ode to Oi . Bounce Generation became the next success, so the song reached number one on the Beatport charts within a few days and became the most played track at the Ultra Music Festival and Tomorrowland 2014 with over 10 plays .

Together with R3hab they played their single How We Party for the first time at Tomorrowland 2014 . The Meblourne Bounce Track was behind their Bounce Generation , the second most played song at Tomorrowland 2014. R3hab and Vinai released it as a single on August 1, 2014, reaching number one in the Beatport Top 100 for the third time in a row. In addition to overwhelmingly positive criticism, however, a lack of innovation was addressed, as How We Party is very similar to the previous singles. The official music video has over 25 million views to date. Their unmistakable sound is also reflected in their remixes, so they used similar drops for their remix to Soundwave by R3hab and Trevor Guthrie or for David Guetta and Emeli Sandés What I Did For Love , which was the most successful track on the remix EP of the The song was and still has over a million views on YouTube.

In October 2014 they announced their entry at number 62 in the DJ-Mag Top 100.

2015: Louder & Criticism

Another ID of Tomorrowland 2014 was the song Louder that Vinai played with Steve Aoki and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike . In September 2014 Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike officially announced the collaboration with Vinai. A studio remake of the song, produced by the German DJ duo Jaxx & Vega , who are known for their bootlegs of unreleased songs, made its way through the Internet in advance . The bootleg was viewed over a million times and received positive feedback. However, it was once again criticized that the style was too close to the last songs of the Italian duo. The goal of the quartet was to be in first place one more time, but it did not succeed.

Also in January 2015, an ID made its way through the Internet. The style of the song was very similar to that of the German DJ and producer Tujamo , who also turned out to be the interpreter of the track. However, since Vinai posted the initial ID several times, it was mistakenly assumed to be a collab. It was similar with the song Legend , which was assigned due to the style Dvbbs and Tony Junior. The audio track was first played by David Guetta in his podcast in March 2015. On April 1st, 2015 it was finally announced that Vinai was behind the track, which was initially taken for an April Fool's joke , as the style is based on a big room drop and therefore does not fit into the typical Vinai scheme. The release date was April 20, 2015.

When they performed at the Ultra Music Festival 2015, Vinai played their previously unreleased tracks Techno and The Wave . With the latter, they have orientated themselves on their classic Melbourne bounce style as well as on the sound of its predecessor Legend . In various social networks such as Facebook, numerous videos followed of how they celebrate the use of the drop during their appearances. What caused confusion, however, was that MAKJ had played the same song back in August 2014, which is why rumors of a collab followed. The Wave was released on Beatport on July 20, 2015, with added vocals by British singer-songwriter Harrison, best known for Hardwell's track Sally . The Wave was much more popular than its predecessor and moved up to 3rd place in the Beatport Top 100 and up to the top position in the genre charts.

The Australian Melbourne bounce duo SCNDL has been the official remixer for most of their singles. The first joint collaboration took place in August 2015. This resulted in the song Frontier , which also resembles the typical Melbourne Bounce style of both projects. The track was released as a free track on August 18, 2015 and received very positive feedback , especially for its western influence . At Tomorrowland 2015, which took place at the end of June 2015, the popularity of the upcoming single Techno increased . However, up to this point it was suspected that it was a collaboration between the US duo GTA and Vinai, which turned out to be wrong. The track quickly spread across the network and was widely praised. Even before the release, it could be heard in numerous podcast episodes, including by Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike or in almost all sets that W&W and Tiësto played in the summer of 2015. In Techno , the vocals-based drop was used again for the first time, which was already known from Hands Up and Raveology .

2016: Sit Down & Stand by Me

Another single followed in 2016, which was created in collaboration with Harrison. The song is titled Sit Down and is based on the insider that the DJs on their performances, during a song, asks their audience to sit down and jump up to start the drop. Sit Down was able to advance to the top 10 on the Beatport charts. LIT was a collaboration with the newcomer Olly James. In addition to the typical big room style, the track is also characterized by elements of Dirty Dutch.

On June 3, 2017, the song Into the Fire was released with vocals by the Canadian singer Anjulie. The song is based on the classic Melbourne Bounce Synthes and was rhythmically designed in the tropical house style. In July 2016, the song Zombie followed , the main melody of which is based on the song Kernkraft 400 by Zombie Nation . The drop dates back to 2014 from their unreleased remix for Nova by Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Tujamo . The track has been made available for free download.

In late summer they released the song Stand by Me , which was recorded with producer Streex and singer Micky Blue. The song is based on a similar synthesis, but was produced in a future bass garb.

2017: Our Style

In February 2017, they released an official remix for the chart hit Paris by the Chainsmokers and Emily Warren. This was designed in the future bass style and achieved great popularity. On March 14, 2017, the song Our Style was released for free download. According to the title, this was based on the Big Room Melbourne Bounce style responsible for her breakthrough.
