Career
2010 to 2013: Foundation and musical beginnings
The duo was founded in 2010 by Lucas de Wert and Steve Jansen in Maastricht as Lucas and Steve. After performing together in various clubs, they released their debut EP Mind Control EP in June 2011 on the Dutch record label "Housepital Records" . Her second EP Remote EP followed on August 2, 2011 via "GF Recordings". After several single releases, the EP The Revolution EP was released in early October 2013 on "WTF Music" and a few weeks later with the Rock It Now EP , another extended play on "Hotfingers".
2014 to 2015: Contract with "Spinnin 'Records"
After Lucas & Steve started the year 2014 with the songs Craving and Without You , the Dutch record label " Spinnin 'Records " noticed the duo and signed them. With the singles Fearless and Blinded they were able to gain great fame for the first time and shortly afterwards they celebrated festival appearances at Tomorrowland and the RFM Somnii . In the following year there were collaborations with various other artists, including Matt & Kendo, Laurent Wolf and Dr. Kucho! & Gregor Salto.
2016 to 2017: Commercial breakthrough with Summer on You
In summer 2016, the duo released the single Summer on You , which was created in collaboration with the Dutch deep house DJ Sam Feldt and the singer Wulf. With this they landed their first commercial success. They reached u. a. Fourth place in the Dutch singles charts and a placement in the Swedish charts. In July 2016, the song Enigma , which they produced together with Pep & Rash, followed a club-compatible single.
In April 2017 they released the song Up Till Dawn (On the Move) , which is a cover version of the song On the Move by Bart Claessen from 2000. The song moved to the top of the Dutch and Belgian singles charts. With the song Keep Your Head Up , which emerged from a collaboration with Firebeatz and Little Giants, they continued this success. The song forms a follow-up single to Show Me Your Love , which was released in August 2017. They also worked with Bassjackers and Ummet Ozcan . On July 3, 2017, the song Let's Go was released , which they produced in collaboration with the Dutch DJ and producer Mike Williams and the musician Curbi . The official music video came out two days after it was released and was shot with all four musicians in Amsterdam .
2018 to 2019: Skyline World EP
In early 2018 they released the song You Don't Have to Like It , the vocals of which were contributed by Janieck Devy . The song ensured another placement in the Belgian singles charts. On July 27, 2018, the Skyline World EP was released , which consisted of the singles Anywhere , Home and With You , all of which were released during the month. The song Anywhere , in particular , became a success and within a very short period of time had over 10 million views on the Spotify streaming platform . In cooperation with the Dutch singer Cimo Fränkel, a vocal version of the song was recorded, which was published under the title Where Have You Gone . This reached over 60 million streams on Spotify.
In autumn 2018, the track Adagio for Strings was released, a cover version of the play of the same name by Samuel Barber from 1938. After the song Source , which was released in spring 2018 , it was the second club track of the year. At the same time, they managed remixes for Robin Schulz and Erika Sirolas Speechless as well as David Guetta , Bebe Rexha and J Balvins Say My Name .
In March 2019 the song Don't Give Up on Me was released , which they produced together with Armin van Buuren and Josh Cumbee and which was part of van Buuren's studio album Balance . In June 2019 the song Long Way Home followed , which was created with Deepend and Michael Kintish. With this they placed themselves again in the Dutch singles charts. They also managed to do this with the track Perfect , which is a cover version of the song Take on Me by the Norwegian pop rock band A-ha from 1985. The vocals were contributed by the Dutch singer Haris Alagic.
2020: Do It For You
After visiting Dutch DJ duo W&W on stage during Tomorrowland Festival 2019 for the premiere of their song Do It For You , the track's release was announced for January 24, 2020. However, since the song made use of the melody of the song House of Justice by the Dutch producers DJ Jose and G-Spott, and they did not have a license for the use, the release was withdrawn at short notice. On February 28, 2020, the second collaboration with the Dutch big room duo Bassjackers appeared after These Hights . This was entitled All My Life . After the licensing problems with Do It For You had been clarified, the song was released as a single on March 9, 2020 at the second attempt.
