Mike Williams (born November 27, 1996 ; real name Mike Willemsen ) is a Dutch DJ and music producer who is mainly active in the fields of future bounce and future house . In 2016 he published his first successful single releases and appeared for the first time at major festivals. In 2017 he celebrated his first single chart success with the song Feel Good , which he produced together with Felix Jaehn .

Career

Until 2015: musical beginnings

Williams started playing the piano at the age of four . He started producing music when he was twelve . At the beginning of his career, Williams released remixes and bootlegs. He received his first reputation from other artists, including Oliver Heldens , in 2014 for his bootleg of the single Blame by Calvin Harris . On January 31, 2015, he released his debut single Konnichiwa through self-distribution. A few months later he produced the song Candy together with the Dutch DJ and producer Dastic . At the same time, he contributed a remix to the song I Really Like You by the American singer Carly Rae Jepsens . It was played more than three million times on SoundCloud , which made it even more popular.

2016: Musical breakthrough through collaboration with Tiësto

In autumn 2015, during the Amsterdam Dance Event , Williams met the Dutch DJ and producer Tiësto , who announced that he was a fan of his music. As a result, his track Sweet & Sour was signed by Tiësto's record label Musical Freedom and Williams himself signed by mother label Spinnin 'Records . Sweet & Sour was released as a single in February 2016 and was able to advance to number 6 on the charts of the music portal Beatport . After Tiësto brought Williams onto the stage during his performance at the Ultra Music Festival in March 2016 , he played at Mysteryland and Electric Daisy Carnival, among others . He also contributed an official remix to the song The Right Song (Wombass) by Tiësto, Oliver Heldens and Natalie La Rose . After the release of the song Groovy George , which he recorded in collaboration with Justin Mylo, followed in August 2016 with I Want You, a collaboration between Tiësto and Williams. In October 2016, his debut single was released on Spinnin 'Records . This was called Take Me Down .

2017: Big festival appearances & commercial success Feel Good

In January 2017, Williams launched his own weekly radio show called Mike Williams on Track . At the same time he published the song Bambini , with which he reached the top 10 of the Beatport charts again. In spring 2017, the song Another Night followed , the singing of which was contributed by the American singer Matluck. On March 13, 2017, Williams announced on social media that his laptop was stolen while his home was broken into. A reward of $ 2,000 was offered for clues helping to convict the perpetrator . On April 27, 2017, he performed at the SLAM! Koningsdag 2017 in the AFAS stadium in Alkmaar . On May 8, 2017, he released the song Don't Hurt together with the American indie pop singer Brēzy , for which an official music video was also released. Shortly thereafter, an official remix of the song Hunter by the US duo Galantis followed .

On July 3, 2017, the song Let's Go was released , which he produced in collaboration with the Dutch DJ duo Lucas & Steve and the musician Curbi . The official music video came out two days after it was released and was shot with all four musicians in Amsterdam . At the beginning of August 2017, Williams released the single Feel Good together with the German DJ Felix Jaehn . Williams said that the collaboration should already take place in 2015, but has been postponed due to time constraints. In 2016 Jaehn finally gave him the vocals for the song, after which Williams then contributed the instrumental. The result grew into a commercial success, streamed over 120 million times on Spotify. He was also able to stay in the German music charts for eleven weeks and in the Austrian music charts for four weeks . A few weeks later the copyright-free track Step Up , which was created in collaboration with Tom & Jame, was released. In September 2017 followed, together with Brooks , the song Jetlag , in October the solo single Melody (Tip Of My Tounge) and in November 2017 the song You & I , his second collaboration with producer Dastic.

2018: Success with Lullaby and Wait Another Day

In January 2018 Williams released the song Lullaby , which was created in collaboration with the Dutch DJ and producer R3hab and sung by the Swedish duo Smith & Thell. This followed on from the success of Feel Good and also reached over 120 million streams on Spotify. It also made it into the top 10 of the Norwegian and the top 100 of the Swedish singles charts. With the songs Feels Like Yesterday in March 2018 and Give It Up in May 2018 two more commercial singles were released. In July 2018 he released the instrumental piece The Beat , which had been his intro track the months before. The song was characterized by its catchy melody, which is also featured in the official music video. Dutch DJ and producer Hardwell , who produced a remix for The Beat , also starred in the music video. In September 2018 the song Rocket followed , which is loosely based on the melody of the song Irgendwie, somewhere, sometime . On December 7th, 2018 Williams released the song Wait Another Day , which was produced in collaboration with the Dutch DJ and producer Mesto. The Dutch music duo The Companions assisted as singer and songwriter. The official music video appeared on the same day and is a video series that deals with a love affair.

2019: I'm Not Sorry , Wait For You and Dynamite

On January 25, 2019, Williams released the song I Got You , the music video of which continues the story of Wait Another Day . The song was sung by Robin Valo, with whom he had already worked on the song Feels Like Yesterday . At the end of February 2018, Williams announced that the collaboration with Dutch producer Hardwell, which premiered at ADE 2018 , would be released in March 2019. The track is based on a vocal sample that Williams and Hardwell came across while staying in the studio together. The future bounce track entitled I'm Not Sorry was released on March 8, 2019. The official music video was filmed in the Thai province of Phuket and shows Asia's Next Top Model participant Dorothy Petzold in the lead role. In May 2019, the song Wait For You followed , which was his first pop music production. He was supported as a singer by the Swedish singer Maia Wright, who also played a role in the music video that follows I Got You . On July 26, 2019, Williams released the song Kylie , which was his third collaboration with Dastic. The song is a cover version of the song of the same name by the Romanian band Akcent from 2005. At the end of July 2019, Williams played for the first time on the main stage of Tomorrowland . The song Day Or Night was released on August 30, 2019 . On November 1, 2019 the track Dynamite was released , which was created in collaboration with Nicky Romero and singer Amba Shepherd.

In the selection of the Top 100 DJs by DJ Magazine , Williams was ranked 60th in 2017, 66th in 2018 and 54th in 2019.

2020: Make You Mine

On December 30, 2019, the song Make You Mine was announced in the future hits mix published by Spinnin 'Records , the vocals of which were contributed by the Swedish songwriter Moa Lisa. She previously wrote Williams' song Wait for You . The song was released as a single on January 17, 2020.
