Galantis is a music project by the two Swedes Christian Karlsson and Linus Eklöw. They became known in 2014 through the international hit Runaway (U & I) .

Band history

Christian Karlsson had international success as a producer as early as the early 2000s. Under the name Bloodshy , he worked with Jennifer Lopez , Madonna and Britney Spears , among others . He won a Grammy for the production of their single Toxic . Under his own name he became known as a member of Miike Snow in the late 2000s . Linus Eklöw is known as a DJ and producer under the name Style of Eye , especially in Sweden. His biggest international success is his participation in I Love It by Icona Pop .

In the spring of 2012, the two musicians began to develop their style further after earlier collaborations and to begin their productions from now on by finding a melody by playing piano or guitar. Furthermore, her songs have since been published under the project name Galantis . They made their debut with the song Jumbo , which was created in collaboration with the Canadian DJ and producer A-Trak . Their first solo single appeared with Smile on the record label Atlantic Records , to which they have been under contract since 2013. At the Coachella Festival they had their first successful live performance together in spring 2014. A tour of North America followed.

In the fall of 2014, Galantis had their first major hit with the song Runaway (U & I) , which reached number 15 in the US dance / electronic charts. It was also released in Europe at the end of the year and first hit the charts in Northern Europe. It rose to number 1 in the Nederlandse Top 40 in January 2015 and the song also made it into the official charts in France and German-speaking countries. It was particularly popular at major music festivals, was supported by Hardwell , David Guetta and W&W, among others , and was also featured in the aftermovies of Tomorrowland Brazil and the Ultra Music Festival. With Gold Dust in the spring, another single that was successful in the USA and Europe in the dance charts followed. The song's success, however , was surpassed by the follow-up single Peanut Butter Jelly , which was released on April 20, 2015. The track entered the top 100 in Germany, Great Britain and the Netherlands, among others.

After the fifth single, In My Head, from their debut album, no longer charted positions, the song No Money was released in the spring of 2016 , which initially achieved rather poor placements, but similarly worked its way up week after week. After the duo achieved top 20 placements in Germany, Austria and Great Britain and even a number one placement in Norway , the song was traded as a candidate for a possible summer hit.

Love on Me was released in late summer 2016 as a follow-up to No Money . It was recorded in collaboration with Hook n Sling. The track achieved gold status in the UK. Rich Boy Pillow Fight and Hunter were released as further pre-singles of their second studio album The Aviary in spring 2017 . The latter reached the singles charts of several European countries. The album was released on September 15, 2017 in parallel with the promo single Girls on Boys , which was created together with singer Rozes .

In 2018 Galantis released more singles, but with the songs Spaceship and Satisfied they only reached the charts in their homeland. It wasn't until the collaboration with OneRepublic at Bones that it became a major international hit again in early 2019.

In 2020 the album Church was released , which contains all previously released singles from 2019 and 2020. This was followed by the single The Lake , which was created in collaboration with Wrabel. The song stands out from previous work because it is unusually calm by Galantis' standards.
