King Kamehameha Club

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The King Kamehameha Club was a club discotheque in Frankfurt am Main . The club had won various prizes, including a. as “Bar of the Year” or the “DDC” design award and has been a member of “ World's finest Clubs ” since 2004 . The name goes back to the first king of Hawaii , Kamehameha I , and a fictional club of the same name from the television series Magnum .

Opening and offshoot

The foundation stone of the King Kamehameha Group was laid on March 11, 1999 with the opening of the club in Frankfurt on Hanauer Landstrasse. This was followed by the beach club in Offenbach am Main on the Hafeninsel im Main , the King-Kamehameha-Suite ( Taunusanlage ) and other clubs, bars and hotels, etc. a. in Cologne and Mallorca. After belonging to the now insolvent King Kamehameha AG , the King Kamehameha Club in Frankfurt and the associated beach club were independent again. The club was closed with the 2013/2014 New Year's Eve celebration. Real estate owner Ardi Goldman justified the end with the change from a club to an event hall "A club needs an attitude."

Urban planning

The club was founded in 1999 on the Union site in a former boiler house of the traditional Frankfurt brewery. The Zanzibar Roofgarden, the novel factory and other dining facilities are also located on the premises .

The architectural ensemble on the Union site makes Frankfurt's urban geographic change particularly clear. In addition to the Hanauer Landstrasse, the banks of the Main and the Gallus have undergone a similar structural change - accompanied by intensive construction activity, but not only architectural. In place of disused factory and production sites, high-quality real estate , which is particularly used by the service sector, has been replaced.

music

The club was particularly known for its regularly occurring cover band K-Town Connection , which was renamed the King Kamehameha Club Band in 2004. The combo's repertoire ranged from rock and pop of the 1970s and 1980s to contemporary hip-hop and R&B songs. Otherwise, dance floor and house were played on Fridays and Saturdays .
