Regina Wirth

Regina Wirth (* 1792 ; † May 17, 1871 in Bern ) was the wife of Johann Georg August Wirth and participant in the Hambach Festival .

Life

Regina Wirth was born in 1792 as Regina Magdalena Werner. In 1821 she married the German lawyer, publicist and politician from Vormärz, Johann Georg August Wirth. At the end of May 1832 she took part in the Hambach Festival from Homburg , which her husband had organized together with Philipp Jakob Siebenpfeiffer . During her husband's subsequent imprisonment, she made a living for herself and her children by working with liberal booksellers to sell his writings and by organizing fundraising. These activities led to her being wanted in a wanted list in 1833. She then fled to Weißenburg in France with her children. Her husband did not meet her again until the end of December 1836 after he had fled. The family lived in Nancy , Strasbourg and finally in 1847 Karlsruhe . Johann Georg August Wirth died shortly after he was elected to the Frankfurt National Assembly on July 26, 1848 in Frankfurt. Regina Wirth survived him by more than two decades and died on May 17, 1871 in Bern.

Her sons were Max Wirth and Franz Ulpian Wirth .
