Dash Berlin (* 8. November 1979 in The Hague , real name Jeffrey Sutorius ) is a Dutch Trance - DJ and -producer . The production team until June 2019 also included Eelke Kalberg and Sebastiaan Molijn , who had already played in various dance acts (including Alice DeeJay ).
biography
In 2007 Dash Berlin released his debut single "Till the Sky Falls Down" on the Captivating Sounds label , a sub-label of Armada Music . The track was in the Dutch charts for ten weeks and reached number 36. Armin van Buuren played the track in his A State Of Trance Year Mix 2007.
However, his big breakthrough came in 2009 with his follow-up singles “Man on the Run” and “Waiting” as well as his debut album “The New Daylight”. This year he was also nominated for “Best Break-Through Artist” at the International Dance Music Awards (IDMA). It also founded its own sub-label of Armada Music, "Aropa Records". The single "Waiting", which Dash Berlin released in 2009 with the Australian singer Emma Hewitt , reached number 25 in the Belgian singles charts and has been viewed more than 20 million times on the Internet platform YouTube . At the IDMA 2010 the song was named Best HiNRG / Euro Track . In the category Best Trance Track Dash Berlin was nominated twice, with "Waiting" and "Man on the Run".
Dash Berlin released its first official DJ mix album in March 2010, a double album entitled “United Destination”. A year later, the follow-up was released, also a double DJ mix album called “United Destination 2011”. This album included the single "Disarm Yourself", which was created in collaboration with Emma Hewitt and whose video was filmed in Australia. Major floods occurred there only a few weeks later. Dash Berlin and Emma Hewitt decided to donate all the proceeds from the song "Disarm Yourself" to the Flood Relief Fund . “United Destination 2011” also includes the track “Earth Hour”. The accompanying video contains quotes from Severn Suzuki .
From January to December 2011 Dash Berlin published a compilation once a month, “Dash Berlin Top 15”, with the supposedly best trance tracks of the month. This monthly compilation was continued in the following year under the title “Dash Berlin Top 20” and ended in December 2012.
On April 27, 2012 the second Dash Berlin album called "#Musicislife" was released, which reached number 38 in the Dutch album charts. This album contains 13 tracks and the following guest musicians are among them: Jonathan Mendelsohn, Chris Madin, Sarah Howells , Kate Walsh and again Emma Hewitt. This album also contains the single "Apollo Road", which Dash Berlin produced together with ATB . Following the release of the album “#Musicislife”, a world tour followed in early May 2012, starting in Mexico.
Dash Berlin performed on January 16, 2013 in Mexico City as the first DJ for Armin van Buuren's “ A State Of Trance 600 ”. Appearances in Minsk, Sofia, Beirut, Guatemala and Den Bosch followed.
At the end of August 2013 the double album "#Musicislife #Deluxe" was released. In addition to the 13 well-known tracks from the previous album "#Musicislife", "#Musicislife #Deluxe" also contains the singles "Steal You Away" and "Jar of Hearts", newly produced in 2013, a second CD with all the remixes (by Ferry Corsten, among others ) and a DVD with all the official music videos. In the Netherlands, this album, which is considered a collector's item by fans, was in the album charts for two weeks.
In the annual worldwide voting by DJ Mag , Dash Berlin was among the top 10 DJs in 2013 for the third year in a row.
On April 21, 2014 the track "Earth Meets Water" was released, which at the same time announced the album "We Are (Part 1)" for 2014. The same was published in Germany on August 29th.
In June 2018 Jeffrey Sutorius announced his separation from the team behind Dash Berlin and his booking agency after internal disputes escalated. Kalberg and Molijn initially continued the project without Sutorius, who published songs under his own name from October 2018.
In June 2019 it was announced that Kalberg and Molijn have left the project and instead Sutorius is now the sole member of Dash Berlin.
