Emma Louise Hewitt (born April 28, 1988 in Geelong , Australia ) is a singer-songwriter living in Los Angeles . She is known as the vocalist of several trance hits.

biography

Despite having a background in rock music , Emma Hewitt released her debut single in 2007 in the Progressive House division . "Carry Me Away" was a collaboration with British DJ Chris Lake . The single reached number 11 in the Spanish singles charts and number 12 in Finland. In the United States, the single was on the Billboard Hot Dance Airplay chart for a total of 50 weeks , peaking at number 1 in December 2007.

Since the success of her first single, she has worked with several trance artists, including Cosmic Gate , Gareth Emery , Dash Berlin and Ronski Speed . The single "Waiting", which she released with Dash Berlin in 2009, reached number 25 in the Belgian singles charts. In Armin van Buuren's popular radio show A State of Trance , the single was voted the second best song of 2009 by the audience with 2109 votes. At the International Dance Music Awards 2010 "Waiting" was named Best HiNRG / Euro Track . In the Best Trance Track category she was nominated twice, with "Waiting" and with "Not Enough Time". In 2012 she was nominated again in the Best Trance Track category with the track "Be Your Sound", which she released with Cosmic Gate.

Hewitt is also the lead singer of the Australian rock band Missing Hours , with whom she released the debut album of the same name in October 2008. Currently, the band that she founded with her brother Anthony is no longer active as they both moved to Europe and turned to electronic dance music as songwriters.
