Kreayshawn (born September 24, 1989 in San Francisco , California ; real name Natassia Gail Zolot ) is an American rapper and music video director, who became known in 2011 for her hit Gucci Gucci .

childhood

Zolot was born in San Francisco and grew up in Pleasanton . She is the daughter of Elka Zolot, a founding member of the San Francisco garage punk band The Trashwomen. Zolot attended MetWest, Oakland High School, Alameda High School, and Island High School but failed to graduate. She also attended the Berkeley Digital Film Institute, which she also left without a degree.

Career

Kreayshawn directed the music videos for rapper Lil B. She later joined the White Girl Mob group with rappers V-Nasty and DJ Lil 'Debbie.

Her breakthrough came when she published the music video for her single Gucci Gucci on the YouTube video portal . The video was viewed over 3 million times in the first three weeks. As of November 2019, it was clicked more than 66 million times. In the chorus of the lyrics, Kreayshawn distinguishes himself from people who only define themselves through fashion designer brands such as Gucci , Fendi , Louis Vuitton or Prada .

On June 8, 2011, it was announced that Kreayshawn had signed a contract with Columbia Records .

On June 23, 2011, it was announced that Kreayshawn was directing the music video for The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie , the first single from the Red Hot Chili Peppers album I'm with You . However, the band decided to make another music video and not release the original version.

Kreayshawn was nominated for "Best New Artist" at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards .
