history
Sultan was born as Ossama Al Sarraf. After living in Kuwait , Cyprus and Egypt , he moved to Montreal in 1996 to study mechanical engineering and business administration at McGill University . During his studies, he immersed himself in the Montreal nightlife and house scene . A series of appearances led to the release of his first track, Primal Instinct . Sultan was signed to Chug Records in 2001. In 2004, Sultan starred in the documentary Being Osama , in which he described his Christian-Palestinian roots.
After Ned Shepard, also a student at McGill University, saw Sultan DJing in Montreal, in 2002 he gave him a demo CD of music he had been working on. Sultan called Shepard the next morning and showed interest in a joint production.
Shepard counts Brian Eno , Underworld , The Chemical Brothers , Faithless and Sasha & John Digweed among his most important inspirations. Sultan agrees with him and also mentions daft punk and deep dish .
In 2008 they formed Harem Records to release their music.
