Kana Nishino

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kana Nishino ( Japanese 西 野 カ ナ , Nishino Kana ; born March 18, 1989 in Matsusaka , Mie Prefecture ) is a Japanese J-pop and teen pop singer who is under contract with Sony Music Entertainment Japan . In 2005 she was the winner of the "Miss Phoenix Audition" organized by Sony and prevailed against 40,000 competitors. Her debut single I was released in February 2008.

Career

Nishino learned English from childhood and traveled to America at an early age, where she became interested in various types of music, including hip-hop , R&B and reggae . She was also very fond of Japanese literature, which is why she started singing Japanese folk songs. However, she only got the dream of becoming a singer in junior high school. When she was 16, her mother sent a demo tape to the Miss Phoenix Audition without Kana's knowledge, and Nishino won, beating 40,000 other applicants. A year later she got a recording contract with SME Records.

2007 to 2009: Musical beginnings with Tōkutemo , Love One. and motto ...

While preparing for her debut in 2007, she studied English and met the Australian duo Nervo, who provided Nishino with their song I Don't Wanna Know . Nishino wrote the song to the Japanese and called him I . In December 2007, Nishino's official website went online and the song I: Merry Christmas Ver. was available for download on various Japanese sites . Two months later, on February 20, I was their debut single, but without any notable success. After another unsuccessful single, she achieved the first milestone with the song Style. , which was used for the anime Soul Eater and which brought it into the top 100 in the Oricon charts for the first time due to the popularity of the series .

After another unsuccessful single Make Up (January 2009), her first collaboration with the Japanese singer Wise and the song Tōkutemo ( 遠 く て も ) followed. With a chart entry of # 40, this was also her first top 50 hit. The song also went platinum in November of that year for more than 250,000 legal downloads. In June of that year she finally released the single Kimi ni Aitaku Naru Kara ( 君 に 会 い た く な る か ら ) and her debut album entitled Love One. - with great success, as the single debuted at # 19 and thus achieved its first top 20 hit. The debut album also stayed in the Japanese charts for 85 weeks and sold more than 200,000 times. On October 21 of that year she finally released her seventh single entitled Motto ... ( も っ と ... ), which debuted at # 6 and set another milestone in her career as the single had been in the Japanese charts for 31 weeks could stop, also the song was for more than one million downloads of one million won, which is the diamond status. The following single Dear ... / Maybe was also a success, as the song Dear ... also got the million award for more than one million downloads.

2010 to 2013: Commercial highlight with To Love and awards

With the sudden success of her songs, Kana was successful with her kawaii image and girlish demeanor, and so her single Best Friend followed in February 2010, which blossomed her image and also allowed this song to be legally downloaded over a million times. On May 19 of the year her 10th single with the title Aitakute Aitakute ( 会 い た く て 会 い た く て ) followed, which is currently her most successful single with a chart entry of # 2 in the Oricon charts. The single sold nearly 100,000 times and was also more than a million downloads with a million excellent. It was also the 72nd best-selling single in Japan in 2010, making it her most successful entry into the annual Oricon charts. Her most significant release was her second studio album To Love , which sold more than 700,000 times and reached the top spot in the Japanese charts - it was after all the third best-selling album and at the same time the best-selling album by a female artist in Japan, based on the year 2010. Another success was shown in the chart stay, which relates to 104 weeks. The success of her career did not last, not even two months later, in August, she released her next single, If , which was used as the theme song for the anime Gekijōban Naruto Shippūden: The Lost Tower . This single sold more than 90,000 times with a chart entry of # 5 and was also awarded a million because of the legal downloads. In terms of sales, her single Kimi tte ( 君 っ て ), which followed in November of that year, is her most successful because, in contrast to Aitakute Aitakute , with a difference of 1,010 records, it was sold more often and was therefore sold almost 100,000 times.

In 2011 she released other successful singles such as Distance (February) and Esperanza (May). Finally, their third studio album, Thank You, Love , followed, which was another success as it again reached the top ranking and sold more than 350,000 times. Kana commented on this studio album that the songs have grown up since this album and are perceived as positive songs. Her 15th single Tatoe Donna ni ... ( た と え ど ん な に ... ) is also one of her successful releases, as it could be legally downloaded more than 750,000 times.

The year 2012 opened Kana with the singles Sakura, I Love You? (March) and Watashitachi ( 私 た ち ) (May), both of which were successful again. An important milestone was their 18th single Go for It !! , as this represents their 12th chronological highest position in the Japanese digital charts and no artist has achieved this before. Their fourth studio album Love Place sold up to 350,000 times in Japan and was released as a limited version in Taiwan . Another single, Always, followed in November .

After six months, the next single with the title Believe was released in June 2013, followed by a single with the title Namidairo ( 涙 色 ) in August of that year. To celebrate her 5th anniversary in the music industry, she released her first two compilations under the Love Collection theme , titled Love Collection: Pink and Love Collection: Mint , a month later, in September of that year. The Mint version reached the top position in the Oricon charts and both compilations sold more than 300,000 times each, which means that the Love Collection theme together sold more than 600,000 times. A month later, the next single with the title Sayōnara ( さ よ な ら ) followed. She ended the year in December of that year with the video release MTV Unplugged Kana Nishino in DVD and Blu-ray format.

2014 to 2016: series of successful hits and important awards

On May 21, 2014 the single We Don't Stop was released, which debuted behind AKB48's single Labrador Retriever ( ラ ブ ラ ラ ー ル ・ レ ト リ バ ー ) at # 2 on the Oricon charts, was also awarded gold for 100,000 legal downloads and later for 250,000 legal downloads was upgraded to platinum. The digital music market in Japan has shrunk significantly by half from 2010 to 2014, which is why it has become rarer that artists are awarded a million - in these times, lower awards have to be viewed as equal success, as both the CD market and the digital market has sunk and there are no other ways to classify the artist in terms of sales success. A particularly important release is their single Darling , which was released in August of that year. After Kana's sales also fell, but are still relatively high, she managed to release another hit. With this song, Kana went into a whole new musical direction, as it is more of a relaxing song with country elements and no longer reminds of her typical pop songs and ballads. The song was used as the theme song for the Mezamashi Television program and could be legally downloaded over 750,000 times, which is why the song was awarded 3 times platinum. In October of that year, a typical Kana ballad with the title Suki ( ) followed, but it did not match Darling's success . The following month, November, she released her 5th studio album, With Love - the studio album sold more than 250,000 copies and topped the Oricon charts.

The long stay in the charts of the song Darling shaped the following single Moshi mo Unmei no Hito ga Iru no Nara ( も し も 運 命 の 人 が い る の な ら ), which was released on April 29, 2015. The song has a style similar to Darling and has been a hit with sales. In September she released her next single titled Torisetsu ( ト リ セ ツ ), which was used as the theme song for the film adaptation of the manga Heroine Shikkaku . Like the previous two singles, this song has a country style to it. In order to publish two more compilations, a survey was started in which the audience was asked about their favorite songs by Kana - here you were allowed to vote for each song that was a B-side on a single and / or as an exclusive title on a studio album, decide, only theme songs by singles had to be avoided. The end of the survey was formed by the two compilations Secret Collection: Red and Secret Collection: Green , which appeared on November 18th, and each came with two new songs in addition to the most popular songs. One of the new songs, No.1 , was used as the theme song for the Japanese series Okitegami Kyoko no Bobiroku . There was also a music video for No.1 and the already released song A-Gata no Uta ( A 型 の う た ), which was previously only available as a B-side on the single Torisetsu . The project of two compilations has been described as Another Side of Best Album ( dt. Another side of compilation) or as a compilation clutch as only tracks from studio albums and B-sides were used and this principle hardly found use in Japan. In December, the No.1 song was awarded gold for more than 100,000 legal downloads, later upgraded to platinum in February 2016 for 250,000 legal downloads.

In February 2016, the With Love Tour was finally released on Blu-ray and DVD. In the same month, the CD single Torisetsu was also awarded gold, making it her first certified CD single since Distance in 2011. For April, the 28th single with the title Anata no Sukina Tokoro ( あ な た の 好 き な と こ ろ ) announced. A few weeks after its release, the studio album Just Love was announced for July 13, 2016. The album achieved the highest ranking in two consecutive weeks, she already achieved this special feature with the studio album To Love (2010). In the sixth week of sales, the studio album once again achieved the highest ranking and is therefore her most successful studio album in terms of charts. Her next single, Dear Bride , was released on October 26th in Japan and October 31st in Taiwan. Kana has won many awards over the years, but what is special is that she received the Grand Prix award at the 49th Japan Cable Awards and later the highest honor, the Japan Record Award, at the 58th Japan Record Awards , for the song Anata no Sukina Tokoro won for the first time in her career. Both awards are highly valued by Japanese musicians and at the Japan Record Awards, she prevailed against Japanese music giants such as Hikaru Utada and AKB48 .

Since 2017: Love It , 10th Anniversary and Time Out

The "Kana Nishino Dome Tour 2017" in the Tokyo Dome (2017)

Their next single was released in May 2017, titled "Pa" ( パ ッ ) and was a moderate hit at # 5 on the weekly charts. Another collaboration with Giorgio Cancemi (for example Aitakute Aitakute and If ) was the following single "Girls", which was released in July of that year. At # 7 on the weekly charts, the song became a top 10 hit. On August 26th of that year she started her stadium tour under the title "Kana Nishino Dome Tour 2017" with four dates. The first concert in the Osaka Dome alone had an audience of 35,000. The last concert took place on September 24th of that year in the Tokyo Dome , with which it recorded 160,000 spectators at four concerts. During the tour she announced her single "Te o Tsunagu Riyū" ( 手 を つ な ぐ 理由 ) for October of that year. The single was their first single since 2009, which did not sell more than 20,000 times in the Oricon charts, but was # 7 on the charts. Her seventh studio album, " Love It, " followed on November 15 of that year , which went to # 2 on the weekly charts and became her first studio album to go gold and not platinum. It was also her lowest-selling studio album of her career at the time. For example, there were no advertising measures such as traditionally a new music video for this release.

With her 33rd single "I Love You" ( ア イ ラ ブ ユ ー ), she released the theme song for the anime series " My little Monster " on April 4, 2018 . From May 19 to July 25, she went on an indoor tour called “Love It Tour” with 26 concerts. From August 28th to October 10th she has been on her arena tour for her tenth anniversary on stage with the title "Love It Tour: 10th Anniversary" at twelve concerts. Their 34th single "Bedtime Story" was announced for September 12th and two more compilation albums followed on November 21st of that year with the titles "Love Collection 2: Pink" and "Love Collection 2: Mint". Her video concert album for “Love It Tour: 10th Anniversary” followed at the end of December.

In January 2019, she announced that she would be taking an indefinite break from the music industry. Her last appearance before the break was on February 3rd of the same year as part of her three-day “Love Collection Live 2019” concert tour in the Yokohama Arena . Cinemas in Hong Kong and Taiwan broadcast this performance live. Finally, on her 30th birthday, she announced that she would marry her former manager.
