"Don't leave me here in the dark when it's hard to see.
Show me your heart, shed a light on me.
If you love me, say so, If you love me, say so.

You know I can't live without you, I'm on my knees.
Where are you now? Shed a light on me.
If you love me, say so, If you love me, say so. "

- Refrain, original excerpt

“Don't leave me here in the dark when it's hard to see.
Show me your heart, throw a light on me
If you love me tell me, if you love me tell me

You know I can't live without you, I'm down.
Where are you now? Throw a light on me
If you love me tell me, if you love me tell me. "

- Refrain, translation

Music video

To Shed a Light two music videos were released. First, on November 24, 2016, a poetry video premiered on YouTube . All you can see is an endless street on which short text passages and keywords , as you know it from typical poetry videos, are faded in. The total length of the video is 3:23 minutes. The music video was produced by Eddy Klaus and Roald Seeliger.

A real music video was released on January 31, 2017. You can see the spaceman Dr. Carver (played by Christopher Reinhardt ), who landed with his capsule in an ice region, cannot get away from there and initially lost the connection to his space station "Bravo III". When the backward spaceman Jung (played by Franziska Nylen) can locate him , she decides to fly to him with a capsule. When the two meet, they embrace and start kissing while everything goes black around them. There follows a short scene in which the two can suddenly be seen kissing in front of a sunset, before they can be seen kissing again in their spacesuits while they take off. In between, the three performers can be seen again and again in their virtual silhouettes made up of pixels . Directed by Mario Clement. To date, both videos have over 62 million views on YouTube (as of July 2020).

Reviews

The German-language e-zine Plattentests.de rated the album Uncovered with four out of ten points, with Felix Heinecker from the online editorial team highlighting Shed a Light as one of two “highlights” alongside Higher Ground . Whether Cheat Codes, Guetta or Schulz had the idea for the “jagged” strings in Shed a Light cannot be determined from the cast. But they would make an "already good pop song" a pleasant exception in the otherwise unexciting EDM range.
