The music and the text were written and composed jointly by Alida Garpestad Peck, Daniel Deimann, Junkx, Erik Smaaland, Gaute Ormåsen, Robin Schulz and Kristoffer Tømmerbakke. The main vocals of the song come from the Norwegian singer-songwriter Alida, Schulz only acts as a DJ on the piece.

"'Cause I can hear the thunder from afar.
A lightning in the dark.
I can feel a fire come alive.
So calm before the storm.
So dark before the dawn.
Oh, I can see the fire in your eyes (Oh).
In your eyes (Oh). "

- Refrain, original excerpt

“Because I can hear the thunder from afar.
A flash in the dark.
I can feel a fire starting
So calm before the storm.
So dark before dawn
Oh, I can see the fire in your eyes (Oh)
In your eyes."

- Refrain, translation

Music video

The music video for In Your Eyes premiered on January 10, 2020 on YouTube . The video is a continuation of a story that began earlier with the music videos for All This Love and Rather Be Alone . As with Rather Be Alone , Toni Garrn supported Schulz as an actress in the video . You can see Garrn and Schulz, whose avatars initially head towards the city on motorcycles. When they arrive in town, they are followed by other avatars, but they can shake them off. A short time later, the two meet a huge combat robot, which they can defeat with the help of guns. The video ends with the two running on a pyramid before the words "To be continued" ( English "to be continued" for) appears. The total length of the video is 3:31 minutes. As in the previous parts, the director was again Robert Wunsch. To date, the music video has over 59 million views on YouTube (as of August 2020).

Reviews

Manuel Probst from Dance-Charts is of the opinion that Schulz had a successful musical start in the new year with the title. The “dance-pop number” consistently continues his style without Schulz stepping on the spot. The soulful number is not only extremely catchy, but also touches with its emotional lyrics, which Alida sets to music "dreamlike". In the musical "design", the catchy composition looks like a fusion of Speechless and All This Love . While the vocal passages would ensure a slow build-up of the arrangement , the "drop" with catchy strings created the mood and would be complemented by the "charismatic" accompanying vocals from Alida.
