Do you want is a song by the German rapper and singer Alligatoah . The piece is the second single from his third studio album Triebwerke .
Creation and publication
The song was written and produced by Lukas Strobel (Alligatoah). The single was released under the Trailerpark music label and distributed through Groove Attack . On the cover of the maxi single you can see - in addition to the artist name and song title - a collage of screenshots from the accompanying music video, which all together make up the face of Alligatoah.
The first publication of Willst Du took place as a digital publication on August 16, 2013. A physical sound carrier was released five weeks later on September 20, 2013 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland . The maxi single is available as a 2-track single and contains, in addition to the radio version, an acoustic version of Willst Sie as B-side . To promote the song, there was a live performance in the Living Room at Joiz Germany .

The lyrics to Willst du are written entirely in German. Both the music and the lyrics are specially written by Alligatoah. Musically, the song moves in the area of German rap music . In the chorus, there are rap and vocal parts. Martin Gündüz can be heard as an instrumentalist on the synthesizer.

In Want is an anti-drug song. Even so, the song is not broadcast by some radio stations because the radios do not recognize this interpretation of the song. In an interview with n-tv , Alligatoah described the content of the song as follows: “ Want you is actually not a drug song. The next line already says: 'Come on, let's go down the drain together.' Music video
The music video for Willst Du celebrated its premiere on July 21, 2013 on YouTube . You can see a young person who leaves her home with a friend and moves across the country, going on a drug trip . At the beginning she is still embarrassed about the first drugs, later she becomes more and more open, which in the end leads to complete addiction . The video ends with her falling headlong into a flood and floating on the water.
At the Echo Awards 2014 , the music video was nominated with 19 other music videos in the video (national) category, but had to admit defeat in the first voting round. The total length of the video is 3:42 minutes. Alligatoah directed it himself. To date, the video has over 54 million views on YouTube (as of May 2020).

Willst du reached position 14 in the single charts in Germany and stayed in the charts for a total of 62 weeks. In Austria, the single reached position 20 in the charts in 34 weeks. Although the song did not make it to number one in Germany, it was still the most successful German-language song in the German single charts for a period of three weeks . In 2013 the single placed in the German annual single charts at position 83 and in the annual single charts from 2014 at position 89.
For Alligatoah this is the first chart success in Germany and Austria. In both countries, no single of his has been able to place higher or longer in the charts.

In July 2018, Willst du was awarded a double platinum record in Germany for over 600,000 units sold. This makes the song one of the best-selling rap songs in Germany since 1975.
