content

The lyrics to Heatwave are in English; Translated into German, the title means "heat wave". The music and the text were written jointly by the production team Junkx, Bryan Nelson, Jordan Peter Orvosh, Robin Schulz, Aliaune Thiam (Akon) and Thomas Troelsen. Musically, the song moves in the realm of house and pop music . The singing of the song comes from Akon alone, Schulz only acts as a DJ.

"'Cause when we're together, your love is controlling my brain,
like plunging inside of that fire I cannot contain.

Our love is a heatwave,
it's burning through the evening rain,
sets sail out on an ocean wave,
'cause our love is like a heatwave.
'Cause our love is like a heatwave. "

- Refrain, original excerpt

“Because when we are together, your love controls my brain,
like immersion in the fire, I can't escape it.

Our love is like a heat wave,
it burns through the evening rain,
sets the sails on an ocean wave,
because our love is like a heat wave.
Because our love is like a heat wave. "

- Refrain, translation

Music video

The music video for Heatwave was shot over three days in Cape Town ( South Africa ) and premiered on April 16, 2016 on YouTube . On April 7, 2016, Schulz published with the words “What came first? The chicken or the skateboard? “( English for 'What came first? The chicken or the skateboard') a teaser via Facebook .

You can see a man in a chicken costume (played by Phillip Himburg) who is out and about on a skateboard . He is so focused on his "mission" that he does not notice the rising media hype about himself . His video contributions are uploaded to video platforms, reporters are after him, special programs are scheduled, he adorns the cover of magazines and is parodied for commercials . Towards the end of the video he suddenly stops at a trailer and knocks. The resident opens the door with the words “My dear friend what took you so long?” ( English for 'What did it take so long, my friend?'). He then hands the resident a food package from the "Crispy" chain. Masses of people who followed him are appalled by the fact that he is just a delivery boy and start their way back disappointed. In between, scenes of Akon and Schulz can be seen again and again, who move through the dunes and desert landscape of Cape Town and sing the song.

The total length of the video is 3:26 minutes. Directed by Chehad Abdallah, Abdallah had previously worked as assistant director for Schulz's music video Headlights . To date, the video has over 9.6 million views on YouTube (as of December 2016).
