Junkx
Junkx is a production team for pop music from Mülheim an der Ruhr , consisting of Dennis Bierbrodt, Stefan Dabruck , Jürgen Dohr and Guido Kramer. Her most successful release to date is the single Sugar ( Robin Schulz feat. Francesco Yates ) with over 3.2 million copies sold. In total, the production team has so far been able to sell more than 6.9 million records worldwide.
Career
Start of career and first successes
The production team was founded in 1997 and settled in Mülheim an der Ruhr, where they also have their own recording studio (Junkx Music Studios). Stefan Dabruck acts as the A&R manager of the production team. Dabruck initially worked in the administrative area and only appeared occasionally as an author and producer, since 2016 he has also been an integral part of the music production and produces and also writes on all the songs of the producer team. He celebrated his first chart success with Junkx in May 2016 with the author participation and production of Heatwave by Robin Schulz feat. Akon .
In the year of the merger, Junkx's first author participations and productions came out with Da Lower You Go (Striking Man) and Rock the Disco (Disko Brothers). In the first three years they only made small productions with no notable success. It wasn't until three years later that Junkx made the breakthrough with the participation of authors on Phatt Bass ( Warp Brothers vs. Aquagen ) - a sample from New Orders Confusion . The single celebrated Europe-wide chart successes and made it into the top 10 of the British single charts . The single was able to celebrate further chart successes in Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden. The next two singles We Will Survive and Blast the Speakers , which Junkx also wrote for the German DJ duo Warp Brothers, also made it into the single charts. After the first notable successes, the production team were initially denied further chart hits. It wasn't until eleven years after their last chart hit Blast the Speakers that they returned to the German charts in 2012 with Life Is Always New ( The Disco Boys feat. Mimi Perez). When Life Is Always New is the first chart success of Junkx where they are involved both as writers and as a producer. In the following year, Junkx with Mammoth ( Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike & Moguai ) and Body Talk (Mammoth) (Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike & Moguai feat. Julian Perretta ) had another European hit after many years. The single reached the single charts in Belgium, Germany, France and the Netherlands, among others. Body Talk (Mammoth) climbed to position two on the charts in Flanders and achieved gold status. This was the first time that the production team was awarded a gold record .
Cooperation with Robin Schulz and establishment
In 2015, the production team achieved their global breakthrough with the collaboration of Robin Schulz . The first joint single Sugar (Robin Schulz feat. Francesco Yates ) - a cover version of Baby Bash's Suga Suga - became a world hit with number one placements in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Czech Republic as well as other chart successes in the UK and the United States States. So far, Sugar has received one gold and 20 platinum records worldwide and has sold over 3.2 million copies. The two successor singles Show Me Love (Robin Schulz feat. JUDGE) and Heatwave (Robin Schulz feat. Akon) also achieved high chart positions and were awarded gold and platinum records.
In September 2016 followed a short guest performance with David Guetta . For him, Junkx produced the single Would I Lie to You (David Guetta, Cedric Gervais & Chris Willis ) - a new edition of the original by Charles & Eddie from 1992. The single was in the top 10 across Europe and has so far been over-sold 535 thousand times. In October 2016, the producer collective signed a long-term “publishing contract” with BMG Rights Management together with Robin Schulz . Junkx themselves made the following statement regarding the cooperation with BMG: “BMG simply understood how we work like no other publisher. The first few weeks of cooperation have already shown how strong BMG is internationally. We have never seen anything like this in 20 years of the music industry. We look forward to working with the entire BMG team in the future. ”One month later, the single Shed a Light, a joint work by Junkx, David Guetta and Robin Schulz, and the US EDM trio Cheat Codes was released . The single has sold over 900,000 times so far.
In 2017 Junkx wrote and produced the song OK by Robin Schulz and James Blunt . The single rose to position two in the charts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, among others. The single Despacito ( Luis Fonsi feat. Daddy Yankee ) had to admit defeat in all three countries . However, OK is at the top of the German dance (9 weeks) and airplay charts as well as at the top of the charts in Poland , Hungary and the US dance club songs. For over 900,000 copies sold, the single has so far received two gold and eight platinum. The following publications I Believe I'm Fine (Robin Schulz & Hill ), Unforgettable (Robin Schulz & Marc Scibilia) and Oh Child (Robin Schulz feat. Piso 21 ) did not reach top 10 rankings, but developed into evergreens and reached thereby partly also gold status.
