Jarron Thomas Collins (born December 2, 1978 in Northridge , California ) is an American basketball coach and former player who played for ten years in the NBA on the position of the center .

Life

Collins was selected 52nd by the Utah Jazz in the 2001 NBA Draft and spent his first eight professional years with the Utah Jazz . At the beginning of his career, Collins saw quite a lot of playing time at the Jazz with 20 minutes per game, but his playing time steadily decreased from his sixth professional year. In 2009, Collins joined the Phoenix Suns as a player without a contract . For the 2010/11 season he played for the Los Angeles Clippers and Portland Trail Blazers , where he was only used sporadically. Then he ended his career.

Collins started working as a scout for the Los Angeles Clippers in 2013. In 2014 he was appointed to the coaching staff by Steve Kerr as assistant coach for player development for the Golden State Warriors . With these he also won the NBA championship in 2015 .

Jarron Collins is the twin brother of Jason Collins . Jason was also a NBA professional player for many years and became known as the first active professional athlete in the four US sports leagues outside of sport when he came out in 2013 .
