2001 NBA Draft
The 2001 NBA draft was posted on 28. June 2001 in Minneapolis ( Minnesota performed). In two rounds, 29 players were selected from NBA teams. However, the Minnesota Timberwolves had to forego their first round pick because they broke the salary cap rule.
In the first place, Kwame Brown was selected by the Washington Wizards . He was the first high school player ever to be selected as a first pick in an NBA draft . However, he could not live up to this honor.
The 2001 draft was named "the worst draft ever" by the Washington Times . But there were also good talents among them, such as the Spanish power forward Pau Gasol , the third pick overall, or the French point guard Tony Parker , whom the San Antonio Spurs drafted in 28th place. Other examples include Tyson Chandler (2nd pick), Jason Richardson (5th pick), Shane Battier (6th pick), Joe Johnson (10th pick), Richard Jefferson (13th pick), Zach Randolph (19th pick) , Gerald Wallace (25th pick), Samuel Dalembert (26th pick), Gilbert Arenas (30th pick), Mehmet Okur (37th pick) and Bobby Simmons (41st pick).
