Jamison Rudy Van Brewer (born November 19, 1980 in East Point , Georgia ) is an American basketball player who, after starting his career in the American professional league NBA, is now continuing his career in Europe . Brewer, playing in the position of point guard , appears primarily as a template provider and brings a comparatively large number of rebounds for a player in his position . Since March 2011 he has been under contract with the German first division club Eisbären Bremerhaven.

While studying at Auburn University in Alabama , Brewer played for the Tigers basketball team in the Southeastern Conference of NCAA Division I. After two years, Brewer signed up for the 2001 NBA Draft and was selected by the Indiana Pacers. With the Pacers from Indianapolis he was used in the following three seasons due to injuries on average only in one sixth of the season's games, with a playing time of a good twelve minutes per game. In 2004 he was hired by the Knicks from New York , where his working hours did not increase. He made his last game for the Knicks in February 2005, before he was passed on in a player swap to the San Antonio Spurs , who did not use him. For the following season he was no longer able to jump into the Knicks season, so that his NBA career temporarily ended.

In the 2005/06 season he was then briefly under contract with the multiple Croatian champions KK Cibona from Zagreb , who were also champions at the end of that season. However, Brewer returned to his home country in 2006 and played for the Hollywood Fame franchise from Los Angeles , which was newly founded in the ABA , which was dissolved at the end of the season. Brewer then had short-term contracts in Belgium and in the NBA Development League . After that, he did not appear as a professional basketball player for two years.

In the 2009/10 season he had a contract in São Paulo , Brazil with the first division club EC Pinheiros (the former SC Gêrmania), where he could draw attention again, and was committed to the 2010/11 season by the Ukrainian basketball club from Odessa . There he could not get involved in the game as desired and the contract was terminated in January 2011. In early March 2011, he finally got a contract from the polar bears Bremerhaven that since the departure of the BBL 2009/10 season the best player in his position and into BBL First Team appointed Louis Campbell searching for an adequate replacement were in the playmaker position. With Brewer as the game organizer, they could qualify for the play-offs again , where they were eliminated in the first round against defending champion Brose Baskets . Brewer's contract was then extended beyond the end of the contract. At the end of December he then asked for the contract to be terminated, for which "personal reasons" were given according to official statements. After the engagement of Alex Gordon to replace Brewer, the contract termination was granted.
