Jamario Ramon Moon (born June 13, 1980 in Goodwater , Alabama ) is a retired American basketball player . Moon is particularly known for his many career positions outside the NBA.

Career

After completing college at Meridian Community College in Meridian , Mississippi, Moon signed up for the 2001 NBA draft . After he was not drafted , he played in 2001/02 in the NBDL with the Mobile Revelers. After a brief stint at the USBL and the NBA Summer League , Moon played another season in the NBDL with the Revelers and in the 2003/04 season with the Huntsville Flight.

In 2004 he was on tour with the Harlem Globetrotters show troupe . This was followed by missions in smaller US leagues, including the Kentucky Colonels in the ABA and the Albany Patroons in the CBA.

In 2006 the NBDL followed again, in which he played for the Fort Worth Flyers . After some assignments with Marietta Storm in the WBA, he moved to Mexico, where he played with Fuerza Regia de Monterey. Despite these many stations, he didn't make it into the NBA until he signed for the second time with the Albany Patroons in the CBA in 2006/07. He averaged 18.8 points and was voted the league's best defender.

In March 2007, he was finally in a CBA game from scout the Toronto Raptors , discovered Darrell Hedric. Moon was particularly convincing with his defense. After a trial with the Raptors in July 2007, the team made him an offer. On July 10, 2007, he signed a two-year contract with the team from Canada.

Moon at the Miami Heat

On February 13, 2009, Moon was transferred to the Miami Heat along with All-Star Jermaine O'Neal . In return, the Raptors received Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks .

On July 24, 2009, Moon signed a contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers . After positions with the LA Clippers , the Charlotte Bobcats and the Los Angeles D-Fenders , he moved to the Greek club Olympiacos in January 2014 . After only two months, the end of the collaboration was announced in March 2014.

successes

Moon was elected to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team (with 12 of 29 possible first team votes) and Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month of January for his 2007/08 rookie season .

He took part in the 2008 NBA All-Star Weekend in the slam dunk competition and finished third behind Dwight Howard and Gerald Green . He also played in the NBA Rookie Challenge and scored 13 points for the rookie team.
