A. Erman Tekkaya

A. Erman Tekkaya (born February 25, 1957 in Merzifon , Turkey) is a university professor and PhD engineer. The Turkish and German citizen has been director of the Institute for Forming Technology and Lightweight Construction at the Technical University of Dortmund since 2007 .

Career

Tekkaya studied mechanical engineering in Ankara from 1974 and achieved the degrees of "Bachelor of Science" and "Master of Science". In 1980, he came as a DAAD - scholarship to the Institute of Metal Forming of the University of Stuttgart where he was from 1981 to 1983 and a research assistant, then head of the "Numerical Methods and Teaching" and member of the Institute Board.

Tekkaya achieved his doctorate in engineering in 1985 with distinction. In 1986 he received the Gustav-Magenwirth-Prize for the "Best Doctoral Thesis 1985". He was then appointed to professorships in Germany and Turkey. Since 2003 he has been visiting professor in Shanghai at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Tekkaya is a member of the German Academy of Science and Engineering (Acatech) .
