The MAGENWIRTH Technologies GmbH is a medium-sized company for accessories, service and component development for two-wheelers of all kinds. The company, through its brand Magura (u. A. Bicycle hydraulic brakes known) and the development of components for components in Zweiradsport. The brand name is derived from the first letters of the founder's name and place of establishment ( Mag enwirth and Bad Ura ch).
history
Magura was founded in 1893 by the inventor Gustav Magenwirth as a manufacturer of (petroleum) engines, hydraulic press pumps and water pressure equipment and has been manufacturing handlebars and handlebar fittings for motorized two-wheelers in Bad Urach since 1923 . In the area of handlebar fittings, Magura was the market leader as an original equipment manufacturer for motorcycle manufacturers and still produces products of this type for all major factories. Fittings from pre- and post-war production are partly reproduced for classic car restoration. From the 1970s onwards, the company intensified its developments for bicycle construction. In total, around 400 patents have been registered for Magura over the years. The logo goes back to a rack and pinion handle developed around 1930. Originally it was one-dimensional and showed a curved rack and the lettering Magura. The modernized logo showed the rack in a tilted side view and the lettering Magura. In 2010 a new logo was introduced, which was adopted for the first time uniformly for all four company divisions (bicycle, motorcycle, industrial applications and injection molding). It still shows the rack, but in stylized form and the lettering Magura. The company is today along with other companies in the group next to the Magura Bebro Group (production and services for the electronics sector), a division within the Group of Munz-Magenwirth Beteiligungs GmbH.
