Eddy Anthony Curry Jr. (born December 5, 1982 in Harvey , Illinois ) is a former American basketball player who was under contract with the Chicago Bulls , New York Knicks and Miami Heat during his career .
Career
Curry was selected fourth by the Chicago Bulls in the 2001 NBA Draft . Of the first four draft picks in 2001, Curry, along with Kwame Brown and Tyson Chandler, three players came straight from high school. Curry played in the NBA for those Bulls from the 2001/02 season . He was compared to superstar Shaquille O'Neal at the beginning of his career , but could not live up to these expectations.
In the course of his career, Curry has struggled with many injuries and even minor heart problems, which repeatedly set him back. His only participation in Playoff was in the 2004/05 NBA season with the Bulls. The following summer, Curry was transferred from the Bulls to the Knicks along with Antonio Davis for regular players Tim Thomas and Mike Sweetney. In the 06/07 NBA season he had his strongest year when he was able to achieve 19.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. In the following years, he was unable to match these statistics due to injuries.
During the 2010/11 NBA season he was transferred to Minnesota to the Timberwolves and released after a few days.
In December 2011, Curry signed a contract with the Miami Heat. For his comeback, Curry lost up to 30 kg in weight. With the Heat, Curry won the 2012 NBA Championship.
For the 2012/2013 NBA season , the center did not receive a new contract from the Heat and played for the San Antonio Spurs during the 2012/13 season preparation . At the Spurs, however, he received no final contract for the season in October and left the team again. Shortly afterwards he was signed by the Dallas Mavericks , but lost his place in the Mavericks squad again after only two games due to Troy Murphy being signed up .
In December 2012, he signed with the Zhejiang Golden Bulls in China . He completed 29 games and scored 23.0 points and 10.1 rebounds per game.
