Brendan Todd Haywood (born November 27, 1979 in New York City , New York ) is a retired American basketball player.
High school
In his senior year (1996/97) at James B. Dudley High School, he was named Young Player of the Year in North Carolina and on the McDonald's All American Team .
college
For the next four years, Haywood played at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill . There he still holds some college records and he was the first player to score a triple-double (December 4, 2000 against Miami ).
NBA
Washington Wizards (2001-2010)
After Haywood left college in 2001, he signed up for the 2001 NBA draft . The Cleveland Cavaliers selected him as their 20th pick and traded him for Michael Doleac of the Orlando Magic , who in turn sent him to the Washington Wizards for Laron Profit and a first-round pick . From the beginning he was the starting center of the wizards .
Dallas Mavericks (2010-2012)
In 2010 he joined the Dallas Mavericks with Caron Butler and DeShawn Stevenson .
