Brian David Scalabrine (born March 18, 1978 in Long Beach , California ) is a retired American basketball player .
Scalabrine began his professional career with the New Jersey Nets , which had selected him 35th in the 2001 NBA Draft . With the Nets, the 2.06 m tall power forward reached the NBA final series in its first season. From 2005 to 2010 Scalabrine played for the Boston Celtics , with whom he won the championship in 2008 , in the NBA . On September 21, 2010, Scalabrine signed a one-season contract with the Chicago Bulls . There he wore the number 24 and is called by his fans “White Mamba” (based on “Black Mamba” Kobe Bryant ). In the course of the NBA lockout , Scalabrine moved to Italy to Benetton Treviso in 2011 , but returned to the Chicago Bulls at the start of the 2011/12 NBA season . After that season, he retired as an active player and now works as a co-commentator for Comcast Sports New England on broadcasts of the Boston Celtics.
