Antonios Fotsis ( Greek Αντώνης Φώτσης , born April 1, 1981 in Marousi near Athens ) is a Greek basketball player .
Career
Fotsis began his career with Ilisiakos Athens youth team before moving to Greek record champions Panathinaikos Athens in 1997 . At Panathinaikos, Fotsis was able to win his first professional title in the following years and made it into the national team . In 2001 he was selected 48th in the NBA drafts by the Memphis Grizzlies and moved to the NBA . Fotsis became the first Greek in the NBA who was also born in Greece. After only one season, the power forward finally moved back to Panathinaikos Athens in 2002, where he won the double. After a season in Spain and winning the championship with Real Madrid , Fotsis moved to Dynamo Moscow in 2004 , where he won the ULEB Cup . In the summer of 2008 Fotsis signed a three-year contract with Panathinaikos and switched to the Greek record champions for the third time in his career.
National team
With the Greek national team, Fotsis won the European basketball championship in 2005 . Opponents in the final, which took place in Belgrade , were the German team. At the Basketball World Cup 2006 Fotsis reached the final with Greece and won the silver medal there. Fotsis was the Greek team captain between 2009 and 2014.
