Nikolaos "Nikos" Barlos ( Greek Νικόλαος "Νίκος" Μπάρλος , born July 12, 1979 in Patras ) is a former Greek basketball player who was 2.03 m tall and was used in the positions of small forward and point forward.
Career
Barlos began his professional career in 1998 with Apollon Patras . With the descent of Patras from the A1 Ethniki , the top division in Greek basketball, the club management committed to the 1999/00 season Dirk Bauermann , who should lead the team back to the upper house as soon as possible. Bauermann integrated the young forward into the team's rotation. Barlos had 161 points and 118 rebounds in 25 games in his first season in the A2 Ethniki . While Bauermann had already left the team, Barlos was now part of the team's core. He was able to improve his values in the following season 2000/01 to 261 points and 123 rebounds in 22 games. Nevertheless, the team missed a direct return from third place. This should be reached after another three seasons. For the 2002/03 season the Apollon took first place in the A2 Ethniki and Barlos had his best season to date. In 24 games he came to 319 points and 117 rebounds.
Back in the House of Lords they first secured relegation and for the 2004/05 season Barlos was also nominated for the All Star Game . In addition to greats such as Zisis , Spanoulis , Diamantidis , Alvertis and Ekonomou , the Greek selection won the international selection, which could be defeated with 77:76 points. With 18 points, Barlos was the most successful thrower of the game and was named the most valuable player of the game. The award was presented to him by Dominique Wilkins , who was invited to the game as a guest of honor. Recently, other teams were interested in the forward and Barlos opted for the offer from Piraeus and switched to Olympiakos . There the Greek made his debut in the 2005/06 season under coach Jonas Kazlauskas for the first time in the ULEB Euroleague . Although Olympiakos and Barlos in the Euroleague already ended in the quarter-finals against Maccabi Tel Aviv , they reached the final of the playoffs in the championship, but lost to league rivals Panathinaikos Athens . In his first season for Olympiacos, Barlos had 223 points and 109 rebounds in 35 games. After another season in Piraeus and when his contract expired, Barlos moved to AEK Athens .
Barlos failed with the AEK in the qualifying round of the FIBA EuroCup and the championship was over after the quarter-finals after the Athenians were eliminated by Olympiacos. The forward left the AEK again and moved to Aris Saloniki for the 2008/09 season . In Thessaloniki he signed a two-year contract and also played the ULEB Eurocup with Aris . In the championship they reached fourth place, which entitles them to participate in the Eurocup again.
