Twelve years after commissioning a men's basketball team, it rose to the Gamma Ethniki, the fourth highest division in the Greek basketball competition, in the 2002/03 season. In that season, the club was taken over by Christos Seleris as head coach. With him, the club was promoted to the third division for the 2007/08 season. From the 2010/11 season Lavrios played first team in the A2 Ethniki . The promotion to the first-class basket league succeeded in the 2015/16 season . This could be finished with the eleventh rank and thus the league could be secured. Performance guarantees in that season were, among others, players such as Brandon Young and Nikos Barlos , as well as Marko Kešelj who could be committed during the current season and still came to 14 games in which he scored 134 points. The crowd favorite at the GS Lavrio was its captain Sakis Giannakopoulos . The swingman played for Lavrio since the 2004/05 season and has remained loyal to the club ever since. In the summer of 2018 Giannakopoulos had declared his active career over and took his place next to Seleris on the dugout as his assistant. The club management also confirmed the first-time participation in a European club competition. Lavrio had registered for the FIBA Europe Cup , where he failed in the first qualifying round against the Ukrainian representative BK Dnipro . The Greek league was finished in twelfth place.

In the summer of 2019, the GS Kymis merged with the club from Lavrio and merged with it.
