Promitheas Patras , completely Promitheas Patras BC ( Greek Προμηθέας Πάτρας ΚΑΕ ), is the outsourced basketball section of the Greek sports club of the same name ASP Promitheas . The club based in Patras rose to the first-class Basket League for the first time in the 2016/17 season .

history

The basketball team of the sports club Athlitikos Syllogos Patras "Promitheas" , founded in 1985 , started playing for the 1986/87 season. After several ups and downs, the club rose to the 2013/14 season in the fourth Greek league, the Gamma Ethniki. They finished first in their respective group, thus securing promotion to the third division, the Beta Ethniki. Once again, the Promitheas managed to end their season in first place in their group and so the club played in the A2 Ethniki , the second division, for the 2014/15 season . She then finished in third place, just barely missing out on promotion to the Basket League . However, since the actual promoted Faros Keratsiniou had waived his right to play in the first division, this was transferred to the Promitheas, who, together with the GS Kymis , were now able to move up to the first division for the 2016/17 season .

The club finished their first season in the Basket League in ninth place, thus missing out on the playoffs for the Greek championship. In the 2017/18 season , Promitheas found themselves in third place at the end of the main round and this time moved into the playoffs in which they could defeat Lavrio MEGABOLT in the first round, but failed in the following semifinals to Olympiakos . Even before the games for third place, against PAOK , the club management announced that they had registered for the Basketball Champions League competition in order to be able to present themselves internationally from the following season. The season ended in fourth place.
