Career

Mavrokefalidis began his professional career in 2001 at PAOK Thessaloniki , where he was under contract for five years. In 2006 he was selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 57th place in the NBA Drafts . After stints in Italy , where he played for the first time in the ULEB Euroleague with Virtus Roma , and Spain ( Valencia BC ), he moved to Olympiacos in 2007 , where he was under contract with the exception of the 2008/2009 season until 2011. With Piraeus Mavrokefalidis always reached the runner-up championship and was able to win the Greek cup competition in 2010 and 2011. Between 2011 and 2013 he was under contract with the Russian club Spartak Saint Petersburg , with whom he played in the ULEB Eurocup . Between 2013 and 2015 Mavrokefalidis played for the Greek club Panathinaikos Athens . With this he won not only a championship but also the Greek Cup twice . Within Athens he then moved to the AEK for the 2015/16 season , with whom he also participated in the Eurocup again . In the game against Krasny Oktyabr Volgograd on October 14, 2015, which the AEK lost 94:96, Mavrokefalidis delivered the best international score with 42 points.
