Željko Rebrača (Cyrillic Жељко Ребрача ; born April 9, 1972 in Prigrevica ) is a former Serbian basketball player who played at the center position at a height of 2.13 meters .

Career

Club career

Rebrača played between 1992 and 2001 at the top clubs KK Partizan Belgrade , Benetton Treviso and Panathinaikos Athens , where he was able to collect a number of titles and awards. Outstanding for him was the 1999/2000 season, which he was able to conclude with the Greek championship and the European Cup and for which he was elected MVP of the finals.

After Rebrača was selected in 1994 by the Seattle SuperSonics in the NBA draft in 54th place, he moved to the NBA and the Atlanta Hawks in 2001 . There, despite years of international experience, he was appointed to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team for his achievements in the first NBA year .

After further stints with the Detroit Pistons and the Los Angeles Clippers , Rebrača returned to Europe in 2007 and signed a contract with the Spanish first division club Pamesa Valencia .

On December 17, 2007, he announced his resignation due to ongoing injury problems.

National team

Rebrača is one of the best players in the Serbian national team . In addition to two world championships, he also won three European championship gold and silver at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta . At the European Championships 2005 in their own country Rebrača failed with Serbia in the quarter-finals to France 71:74.
